My sources which is Game Crazy, has Halo 2 as coming out May 2. I asked them how they found that out they said that thier sources, (not known by me) told them that. I am not sure that is correct. But a major gaming store should know. I am thinking that it is Bungie, but i don't know

OK. First thing is, the developer just said the game is coming out Fall 2004. Which definitely rules out May. You can have my first-born child if Halo 2 is out anytime in May 2004.
That's the easy part.
The second part is the idea that a major gaming store should know a release date. The answer to this is-- no, they don't. Ever.
It goes like this: all the stores, online or brick-and-mortar, like to rake in money for preorders. Because of legislation regulating mail order commerce, you can't offer a preorder for an item without a release date. ANY release date. You can make it up, pull it out of a hat, or consult a ouija board to get it. Frankly, I think some game shops use exactly those methods.
When Halo 2 was announced, everybody-- game shops included-- thought or hoped the game would be out by Christmas '03.
Then, last Spring, Bungie said it wouldn't be released until sometime in 2004.
Since then, shop release dates have gone from "first quarter 2004" to "March 2004" to "April 1, 2004" to "April 15, 2004" to "June 1 2004".
And it was just the same week that several shops changed their dates to June 1 that Bungie announced the game would be out in Fall 2004-- which in my book means nothing earlier than September.
So do the game shops know that far in advance when a game is coming out?
Nope. The retail outlets frequently change dates based on rumor, innuendo, or just not hearing any news for awhile, and they often disagree with each other about release dates.

May? Get the heck out of here. I'm sorry, but maybe you should try using a different retailer. Did you not hear Bungie? I do hold hope that Halo 2 will come out earlier, but no way is it going to come out that early. Maybe late summer, but otherwise, I'd have to go with autumn or Christmas.

Retail outlets that do preorders have to give a release date. Even if they make it up, which they usually do. I can guarantee you Halo 2 will not be out on April 4. The developer has said so.
