Hippieman sent me a message on XBL a couple days ago.. the two downloadable netmap packs for Marathon:Durandal, the XBLA version of Bungie's classic Mac and PC scifi shooter, the grand-daddy of Halo, are now online in the Xbox Live Marketplace.

There's two netpacks? I downloaded the Jjaro one, but don't remember there being another...

Also, I don't know how long the new layout has been live for, but I like it! :D

Yup-- the Jjaro netpack and.. umm.. I'm blanking, and I can't find any link from the game's detail page on Xbox.com to the related Marketplace pages for DLC. That would seem an obvious thing to have, no?
The new (old?) layout hasn't been on that long-- just since the server move a few weeks ago. Glad you like it ;)

In reply to: Re: Marathon: Durandal DLC Back OnlineHm, I'll have to check it out when I get home from work then!
I very much hope they got enough interest in Durandal that they're going to port Infinity to XBLA too... that would be awesome.

Me, too. I'd to see Infinity come over, and even the original game. I'd pay extra for that.
My only real lasting issue with the M:D conversion is that what is for me the killer feature: online coop-- is so difficult to use because there are only two places you can start a game-- the beginning, and The Big House-- which means that if any player gets disconnected you may have to repeat an awful lot of play.
I'm sure it's a non-trivial problem, but I think that for most of the people who make up the potential audience for the game, the real appeal is the campaign, and the ability to share that campaign with those who are new to it-- network coop-- is key.
For the multi, I think most new players will assume it's just like Doom, or like Halo but a lot older, and to some extent that's correct. But the campaign has enough depth and atmosphere to get past the (up)dated graphics.

Agreed!

Aye, that's definitely the sucky thing. A friend of mine is an old-school Mac user and we had great fun running through the co-op when I first download M:D, we got up to the start of Nuke and Pave, left it there, then found out that you can only start from the beginning or The Big House. Not cool. :(
