If you have host you can snipe if not you can't. Just like any other game type you need host because the way halo 2 is setup online is unfair since someone doesn't lag.

K im a good snip and the hole left right thing is a simple trick ever had a time when you have a choice stand still or move MOve with sniping never hold still espicaly if there is another sniper out there. And when useing the left right technic get it In there head hieght move to the right but in a circle motion so you can aim for theer head and fire and Never hesitate to shoot.if you do you might aswell turn the gun on yourself

I agree with u there are amazing snipers out there and if u can basically master that weapon u control halo literally.when i first started off playing halo 2 i mastered the battle rifle first and thats a great weapon to master prob second best i think but the sniper is num 1.i mean i could battle rifle people up close and all over like crazy,but then one day i played some guy my friend had over and he,well its hard to say but he destroyed me i mean this guy would no scope head shot me and if he didnt get a head shot up close and he just shot my body hed just whack me with sniper and before i knwe it i would be dead.so then i had this kid teach me sniping all night on xbox live and by morning i to could beat him but also destroy him.really theres no secret it just takes time and practice it was extremely difficult for me to at first,but once u get the hang of it theres no greater felling then getting a head shot on someone who thinks there hiding from u.

To be a good sniper, aim at the head. If your opponent has an overshield shoot him twice in the head to kill him. It takes one shoot to the head,or two body shoots to kill them. If they have an overshield shoot them twice in the head, or three shots the body to kill them.

my advice as a gamer is 2 simply mimic his moves and jump around firing at him at the same time use the rockets splash damage 2 max effect

I'm really good at Team Snippers. Send me a friend request on Halo 2 at Travkid. Snipping just takes good timing. Always aim for the head. Always. Aim for the body if that is the only part you can see or if their back is turned to you. To aviod getting Snipped by other people never stand still and snipe. It may not seem they can see you but, their teammate could have you right in their sights. Try Strafing left and right and don't have 1 strafing pattern. Move back left and right really quickly and try to confuse the enemy. When strafing never jump unless it is in close range. If you ever see me, see how good I am and that will prove to you that I am teh STR8 SNIPPZOR(leet for snipper) I'm not going to tell you how to snipe without zooming in though but, I will give you a hint...carefully see what is in front of you and fire and you will be protected.....

Im considered "One shot kill" im very good with sniper. First off you have to have a good weapon combo. Mine is the battle rifle and the sniper.

Sniper - Head shots
- Long shots

Bat.R - Close shots
- Long shots

See? good combo so when you scoping out an enimy across the course you can also change to fire at an enimy thats close to you. You also have to work on instinct if you know the player then you know what he/she is good at. For example...

-Sniping
-Explosives
-Close assault

So if your apponent is a sniper look in hidden dark places, usually small and unnoticeable. I was reading other tips on sniping and it said to move around alot... WRONG! you get the weapon combo find a good place and stick your butt done there. you wanna usually be close to the sniper ammo so when you run out your right by it. You shouldent move around alot. You want you apponents to think your not even there. Every 5 or 6 shots/targets zoom back out and look and see if any enimies are near by. if an enimy has found your position you clear out or take him out. If the apponet is jumping put the scope on the body, follow it and when the body comes back down from gravity take the head shot. If the enimy is running usually head shot for me but for beginners body shot if the enimy is in a Car head shot from side body if moving.

hey its not that hard,
heres some tips

1st: headshots completely rock and I know that
but, if you take 30 seconds to line up a headshot, you are probably already seen. Put 2 shots into the body. It does the same thing and because the body is a much bigger target, you have a better chance.

2: keep moving.
this is my most emphasized rule. Sniper bullets leave white trails, so anyone with a brain the size of a peanut should know where you are. 2-3 kills should be the most you get at a spot at one time. you can go back, but not or at least 5 kills

3: dont think you have to be up high the whole time you snipe.
you can be on the ground, behind a tree or next to a base, and it makes it alot harder for the people to find you, just remember that you are more vulnerable than before. Its just a change of pace.

4: always carry a short range gun if you have a sniper.
It really sucks when you have a running riot and someone runs up to you and starts firefighting at close range. personally, i like a shotgun, but whatever fits you, just to hold your oponnent off until you get help.

5: use your sniper wisely.
if a guy is running, dont just fire shots randomly around him, hoping to hit him, you know where he is running, so set up ahead of him. If a guy is running in the middle of the field with no cover, he diserves to die for being so stupid.

6:a sniper is a tool too
use the scope to tell your teammates where a good gun is, or if theres another sniper loose

7: dont let the other team get it.
usually, there is only one or maybe 2 snipers in a level. If you have 2 good snipers, and you have both, you have a very good setup. If you have low health, and a sniper with full ammo, and you are in a battle you know you are gonna lose, jump off a cliff or grenade yourself. sure youll get -1 but thats better than th other team getting +4 anyway, youll know where the other guy will be waiting, at the sniper spawn spot, and now hes a sitting duck

Ok now I am a legit 34 on snipers. What I do is easy now when your geting shot at move left to right count the shots that the spartin/elite shoot then when he/she reloads turn around and let the bullets hit. Dont always go 4 head shots 2 to the body and they drop but when you get a good head shot then take it.This might sound stupid but dont aim in close sniper battles.Blind fire or try to get the crosshair on any part of their body.Well you learned all my tips and whene you play snipers start every spawn with the elite sniper then when it heats up change to sniper rifle then when you waste a clip DONT RELOAD cange back to the elite and you should have them. Sniping is a skill essential to Halo and Halo 2 both. Now.. To be a good sniper, you must first understand the basic hit areas and such, as already mentioned in other comments. Number one thing...You have to stay calm no matter what happens. Set your eyes on a target, yet keep in mind that there may be other threats in the proximity.. and no matter what happens (unless you're getting attacked from closs by), make sure you aim and calmly take the shot for the head. Remember.. think of where you target will be.. At long range.. everything comes into play.. distance.. velocity.. If you keep everything in minde and keep calm... you can even shoot people off of their vehicles as they're trying to run you over. the rest of the stuff has been mentioned by others already.. so no need to be redundant.

yes sniping can be dificult but one escential element that is basic war fare knowledge is know your terain yes it's always good to go where high ground is but if some one knows where you are youll be shot before you can find any one and always keep in mind that the game is more realistic than it seems for example say your at Blood Gultch (cogulation) and you see a guy across the field make sure to aim a little bit infront of him beacause it will take about a third of a second to reach that long a distance. Sniping is one of the most difficult type of attack. You need a good sense of observation and a good aim. Here are some tips even an expert can do good from: 1) TIMING-Don't be too fast and don't be too slow. If you are too fast you will miss and be in more danger of being shot. If you are too slow you will be spot and you will be shot. So its important to have good timing. 2) AIM-If you have a good aim and if you are an expert sniper you should go for a head shot for an instant kill but for novices its better to go for the body as its a larger target and easier to hit but you will need to put in two bullets except one. 3) PROTECTION-Long range is not all you have to be looking at. A good sniper always has another short range gun for close encounters. Keep a check on your motion detector for anyone coming near you. 4) POSITION-Having a good spot is very essential for a sniper. Its always better to be above the rest of the players but it doesn't hurt to be on the ground. Make sure you have a good view and a spot which is not very easily detectable. Thats all for now. I've been a halo 2 sniper ever since i started playing. In every game im a sniper. But i have some tips here that help everyone. 1. I encourage moving around, just dont move to far from sniper amo. 2. In levels like coagulation snipe people ahead of where they are so the bullet can reach them. 3. Dont try to no scope people all the time. Nothing is wrong with scoping and if you feel like it just talk into your mic and say you no scoped him. 4. Patience! Dont rush your attacks. A well aligned headshot gurantees a kill(exceptions to overshields in which it takes 4) 5. If your opponent is moving around and its hard to hit them use a beam rifle and fire two accurate shots quickly. 6. Try to find a high but protected place to snipe if you have plentiful ammo. Ex: the top story on tombstone, they very top you can get to without superbouncing, is a deathtrap. 7. Keep an eye out for where people can superbounce to, it doesnt happen to often but a good kill to earn. 8. Never stay zoomed in all the time, if there are no enemies visible, unzoom and check your radar for a few seconds. 9. Learn the levels. By learning levels you learn where enemies can enter from and exit out of. Being able to use this is vital for some games like oddball or assault. 10. If you have two shots left, dont go for headshots unless your confident enough or someone is standing still. Instead just go for one person. 11. Have a good secondary weapon in case an opponent charges you. I recommend: sword, shotgun, battle rifle or carbine. Possible a rocket launcher. Thanks for your help.[/quote] basically you need to always movie around while sniping so you don't get sniped or sniped at. As soon as you see someone shoot, try and possibly line up a headshot if possible also. Look up Sweep sniping and practice that. Also when someone is in mid-air shoot them at their highest peak while in the air and shoot 'em in the air. sorta like when they go up that lift on ascenscion. put your aim as close to the body of the person you are going to aim at and then scope in. also when sniping you have to camp but move at the same time. After about 5 or 6 kills in a camping spot move to a different area, also you need to always check your backside, especially when you never see anybody at the most common places. Someone could come behind you and assassinate you if you were on the BR Tower on Lockout

I may not be the best sniper and of course they'res always gonna be someone better then you. But here are some tips that can bring up your game... - Study your map, study each map finding good sniping spots and study where your opponent snipes so you can predict where they'll be and take'em out. - Always move, by doing so your a harder target to hit. Even when you get to your sniping spot keep twitching, a moving target is always harder to hit then a stationary target. - Follow the trail, both the sniper rifle and the beam rifle leave a bullet/energy trail or streaks after their fired. By following where its trail originates you can find your target. - Always check your motion sensor, there's alot of sneaky snipers out there who will flank and assassinate you so always zoom out and check around every few seconds. - Communication, teams often lose cause they lack communication, there's no I in TEAM so always talk to each other for strategies, warnings, targets, locations, etc. I hope these tips can help and most important tip of all, its just a game so try to have fun :)

All you have to do is keep moving while you're sniping back and forth toward the enemy and as soon as you point your scope at him while you're going back and forth try to get right on him and shoot but try to shoot him in the head though or you will have to shoot him twice and try to hide good and if you crouch down by pressing the right analogue you wont show up on there radar but just keep moving you will get it it will take you a while.

Hi guys, i agree that the guy is asking for help with sniping, and i can help. please note that you can kill people easier depending on which halo it is. if it is halo1, you do not need to head shot them, u need to hit near the head, thus no-scoping is easy. halo2 is a bit harder, but with practise, you can no scope without any problems. also, to avoid being hit, when they missed their head shot, throw a frag grenade on the floor a little in front of you, and when it goes of, you have momentary visual cover (be sure to find solid cover soon. also, if you are on a map with one sniper, and your opponent got it first, go on a suicide mission and [long-range] stick him this can be done with practise and when you respawn where he was, run over to his sniper and kill him. if you want to practise, or just play for a while, or maybe evn learn tricks such as long range stick, send me a friend request. i am BadKosh i also have halo 3
