Well I haven't been able to get on here for a while now for some reason, it kept saying something about Mysql connection.. either way I'm here now.
Bungie screwed up on Halo 2. Bungie took out the New Mombassa level.. After E3 2003 the game took a big turn towards shittiness. What happened to the Mongoose (the ATV)...?? What happened to new levels and THE DESTRUCTION OF EARTH that they made such a big deal about. I think maybe the first 3 out of 15 levels dealt with that space station and earth. All the other levels almost EXACTLY followed the original's levels. You had the halo found, then some shit with the flood then the TERRIBLE ending. Couldn't they come up with a better bad ending? Maybe like the MC dead or something.. because "Sir, finishing this fight!" is just stupid.. The whole game was WAY too fast paced and never slowed down. The whole new wonderful AI thing sucked.. the new levels blew.
Especially the whole "one level in Halo 2 will be bigger than all the levels of the original combined".. what happened Bungie? Uhh, I do believe that AOCTR is still probably one of the hugest levels and easily unmatched by anything in Halo 2.
Halo 2's multiplayer really isn't that great either, it is also incredibly fast paced and I don't see what everone sees in it.
Halo 2 was changed for some reason and I wanna know why.

Site has been really busy since the H2 launch-- the system has been overloaded at times. We're doing our best to keep it online.

The New Mombassa level in the E3 demo was a lot smaller than Outskirts/Metropolis and only includes small bits of the latter's gameplay. It had no Scorpions and no Scarab, for instance. I'm guessing the Scarab replaced the stationary plasma turret we see in the demo.
The demo introduces dual wielding and boarding-- which by the time Metropolis comes you've already seen, so you don't need an intro.

I hear you about pacing. It seems that trends in games and in films in the past decade has been to speed everything up and never let anyone take a breath. Heck, in halo 2 I even miss level loads-- I can barely tell when one level ends now. Short loading times are NOT always good.

I believe that this is true, but not all of that space is playable. Metropolis, for instance, has that huge bridge-- but you can't play in all that area, only the part actually on the bridge.

In a lot of areas I agree. I'm going to be tracking those changes and trying to figure out why people like or don't like them in the Halo 2 Impressions section:

Yes what narc said..

I haven't finished Halo 2 so keep that in mind. But I'm into the game enough that I believe I can comment.
E3 2003 was good yes, but I perfer the second level than that level.
Mongoose couldn't fit into the game - if you have the Collectors Edition they tell you in that.

Well they did call it Halo...right?? What else could they do?
After taking what seemed like an hour with the Library in the first game, I was never a big fan of the Flood levels. But I knew even before Halo 2 came out, it would include another Halo and more Flood.
Ending: No comment (will change when finished)
AI seems to be a bit smarter, though I haven't been struck down by an Elite who decided I ran cause my shield was down, jump up on the crate I'm hiding behind and kill me. That was the sort of AI I though I would be against.
New levels are great I reckon.

They were big yes, but come on. They were huge. Not that huge. Would have taken too much memory. I heard that the first three levels of Halo would be the same size as the first level in Halo 2.

Well main campaign is fast paced. Multiplayer must be as well.
Everyone can think I'm absolutely crazy, but I enjoy Halo 2. There are somethings I agree on here, and I will wait and try and find why these differences were so. If I can't find it, narc will find it.

I Still Can't Find Anything...
After completing this game 12 hours after purchase I'm still turning on my XBox every night and subjecting myself to a hopeless search. Did Bungie hype this game up as much to you guys as much as they hyped it up for me? I'm still trying hard to find something to be excited about in this game.. in the original Halo you can still go back 3 years later and pull tricks and do things and say "Wow that's cool!".. In this less than a month later I'm already bored with the levels. In the original you could beat the levels over and over and over and still be able to have tons of fun with them ((Plus with the loading between them you could take a break, have a drink, and figure out when the levels stopped!!!)). In Halo 2, I beat the levels once and I'm having a hard time enjoying them a second, third, fourth or fifth time around.
Maybe the downloadable content will be exemplary to my standards.

In reply to: Theories
I heard a theory from a friend of mine that Bungie purposefully made Halo 2 suck so that when Halo 3 comes out, you will think it is so good it is better than living.
That's really silly. If Bungie wanted to make Halo 2 suck, it would have sucked a whole lot more than that.
And if it had demonstrably sucked that bad, it would not have made the money it did and there would be no Halo 3.
Incidentally Bungie hasn't said anything at all about a Halo 3, anyway.
