HALO 3 Co-Op speculation:
wrote this about 4 weeks ago elsewhere.
I've deduced that there MUST be Co-Op in HALO3...there has to be. Of course there is Co-Op in HALO2 off-line.
This hasn't been confirmed yet but it has to be there...with a 4 player team is what I'm envisioning.
Ooh the things I've read, studied, played, plus imagined sparks my so-called soul with the best and the worst possibilities to come in HALO3. (story line game play)

I see the "Fight" not being finished. One reason why being because of something I read in the past, about 2 more books after Ghosts of Onyx. I know I read that somewhere.
Another reason being the shear size of the fight that requires being finish...alone.

There are some very kool programming possibilities here for Bungie. They have shown in the past, and present, that they have a very innovative way of thinking.
First they could completely stop you, in a programming way, from finishing the game alone. I would find this extremely kool. Mainly because of the shear fact that these damn Spartans work together, and you'd have to run with 2 or more in game, and work as a team to complete it.
Second could be an alliance with the Covenant, but I really don't think this will happen by many things I've read and played. It just wouldn't make since to me.
Third, there COULD be other Spartans runnin' around in a single player game, but that makes no since to me because BASICLY 117 is the only Spartan available and in route to the task.
Basically relating to this post... http://h3da.ascendantjustice.com/?p=140
Just somewhat spooky.

You know at the end of the halo 2 the arbiter and johnson were working together. So maybe we will have an alliance with the arbiter and a few elites who follow him.

Yup I agree that IS a possibility. We'll just have to wait and see. ;)

Well 182, it looks/reads by the description of the new HALO3 marketplace download, there is for sure an alliance between the Elites and MC/UNSC. Not too sure I'm completely glade about this, but if it makes for a good story I'm all for it. ;)
There is one thing that I've read, many many moons ago, that is somewhat following suit with this present day pseudo story. It is or was available here on rampancy at one time...H3 script. It's a very nice read.

Well, let's pull this apart for a second. There are two issues: other Spartans in campaign and Cooperative Play.

Halo 1 and 2 both have split-screen coop, where it appears that there are two Spartans in the game. In cutscenes, though, only 1 is displayed. So regardless of what the play mode lets us do, it seems that in Halo's story, there's still only one Master Chief, even when there are two player characters that have his image representing them.

Covenant speech clips also don't seem to change depending on the number of players.

The AJ piece is based on a Max Hoberman quote that combines one sentence about online cooperative play, and another line about Bungie leading the way with Halo 3. It may be surmised, although not explicitly stated, that the second statement refers to the first to form the combined statement "I expect Bungie to lead the way in network cooperative play with Halo 3." That's what a lot of people infer and want to hear.

Bungie could do so, as a logical extension of the split-screen coop already in Halo 1 and 2, without introducing other Spartans into the story.

Likewise, Bungie could add other Spartans into campaign if they wanted as NPCs, with or without an online cooperative mode.

Mostly agree with your assessment. But I don't think that there should be NPC Spartans in the single player or Co-Op campaign.
Onyx being I believe somewhere during plus maybe directly after HALO2 as I took the read, there isn't but one Spartan left that isn't trapped, MIA, etc...John. So there shouldn't be any NPC Spartans in game, but ya never know. ;) And of course Co-Op is a different situation. ;)
I'd be great to run with 3 others in the same campaign that you can run by yourself. I ran through the HALO1 & HALO2 campaigns so many times just to mess with the AI, gettin' out of the levels, and so-on.
