Part 2 of MythWolfAge.Com's interview with Mumbo Jumbo employees Santa's Head, fisj, and iggy popped has been posted today. This is one of the most informative bits we've seen on Myth III so far. Check it out:
MWA: And how about when you zoom all the way in?Santa's Head: Because of hardware supported exture compression, we can support fairly large textures for individual units. Up close they will look verrrry sweet. In fact, Fisj just requested a serious close up for his desktop image. *8) Higher quality character models, so I'll use that as a comparison if you've played it. =)
Unlike Myth I & II, zooming in won't make you barf.
iggy popped: Imagine seeing 50 such characters on screen at once over open rolling terrain. And you can zoom up to a unit or terrain object and see increasing detail at any distance. Grass waves, tree branches bend, and units move totally smoothly.
fisj: I think its important that because Myth III is mostly 3d, people don't think it will end up looking like a shooter. We're aiming to keep that unique and beautiful style of Myth while bringing it up to speed technologically.
One concern of many Mythers' is the system requirements of Myth III. With so many improvements on the engine, how much will we need to spend to improve our machines for a decent gaming experience?
MWA: That brings us to the system requirements. What system requirements will there be in Myth III: The Wolf Age?Santa's Head: Hmm... I think the low end mac system is going to be a G3/233 with a very beefy 3D accel card. Not sure about PCs though.
iggy popped: Any relatively modern system with good 3d acceleration should suffice. Ram always helps as well. =)
You'll find lots of good information about Myth III if you read part 1 and part 2 of MWA.Com's interview. Thanks, Rolf.
