Daily Radar has posted up two new post-Gamestock articles. I'll report them in reverse. The latter article of the two ranks eight Xbox games against one another, with Halo taking second place behind Oddworld: Munch's Oddyssee. Here's what they had to say about Halo:
Even though this game is technically amazing, it failed to live up to the overwhelming expectations that people had for it. The outdoor environments looked spectacular but the indoor areas seemed rather bland. Also, the game didn't look as clean and detailed as it did in early PC demonstrations. Perhaps time will help iron out these issues.
Their first and more detailed article contains the Daily Radar Editors' post-Gamestock impressions, and here are a few quotes:
The Xbox stuff left me completely unimpressed. These all looked like console games to me -- that is, boring. Halo on TV resolution? Ha ha ha! I'll wait to play it how it was meant to be played: on a PC.
Halo, of course, will be fantastic... whenever it shows up on the PC, that is.
Halo still looks visually stunning, but it isn't going to be so hot on TV with those controls. I'll wait for the PC version.
Halo was a disappointment; perhaps my expectations were too high. If it's the future, why do the guns have such small-sized clips? That demo had the player reloading about every five seconds.
Ouch! Unfortunately, the Daily Radar consensus shows Dungeon Siege to be their most highly anticipated title. I have to respect their candor, but I look forward to some hands-on experience with Halo myself before forming a solid opinion.
