Unfortunately at this point it becomes more a matter of function over addition. The new battle rifle fills the role of a fully automatic weapon with scope, while the submachine gun allows two weapons to be used together as it is one-handed. As for plasma weaponry, I'm sure ther ewill be something new, but once again it is a matter of filling a void and not just adding something for the sake of having it in the game. Perhaps a plasma style shotgun or such, who knows?

Well i've seen some new pics of Halo 2. There is one with two blue elites standing near a door and they're both holding what appears to be new guns of the alien kind. Doesn't look like anything i've ever seen.

In reply to: New Covenant Weapons

Like Matt said above in his comment.. there will be a new Covenant weapon. From what I hear from various sites ((which I know, are unreliable at times)) there will be more than one new Plasma weapon. But thats just common sense to think that they would put more than one new plasma weapon in right? And there will be plenty more vehicles and human weapons. There should also be a greater variety of turrets on both sides =D. I was looking through some pictures somewhere, it mightve been here, bungie.net, or bungie.com Im really not sure. But I found some old pics before halo was bump mapped((which looked rather shitty)).. but I noticed a gun in the chiefs hand that looked starkly similar to the new Covenant Plasma weapon... maybe Bungie is digging into old resources for the new game. And as they say.. a new game can use old stuff.. ((or did I just make that up))??

More than likely certain aspects of Halo were cut due to deadline restrictions. The flamethrower is a good example of a weapon that made it into Xbox Halo but was but due to a release deadline. More than likel a few of the vehicles or weapons that we are seeing now were complete or partially completed back when Halo was originally under development. They would likely be included in various concept sketches, etc. but were unable to make it into the final build due to the time restraints placed upon Bungie. Expect to see a much more polished version of Halo in Halo 2 as the team has had an extra 2 years development time without having to focus heavily on developing Xbox Live's network.
