A forum for Bungie's never-released "Phoenix" project, often mis-named "Fantasy Siege" due to a remark made by Microsoft's Ed Fries. The team is now working on a new, as-yet-undivulged project.
It's a fantasy siege game. I think it uses the Halo engine, but I'm not sure.

Actually, I think about all we can definitively say about Phoenix so far is that it's NOT called "fantasy siege".

I started to have suspicions when Matt said that Halo 2 would be Bungie's first XBL game.
That meant to me that either Phoenix would NOT be on XBL (which seemed unlikely) or that Phoenix would be out after Halo 2 (which would have meant it would have a longer dev cycle than even... well, than even Oni).
Of course, I hadn't considered the idea that they'd just flat-out cancel it.
So, now instead of developing a game about which we knew nearly nothing, other than the misnomer "fantasy siege", now they're working on a game about which we know precisely nothing.
Just add it to the pile of things that make running a fan site challenging :)

Arg... I think I know, and understand why they cancelled.
I too, share a love for strategy games, but they're becoming too advanced, and too focused on flashy graphics... and not enough on gameplay, and balance, and story...
The best strategy game ever made illustrates my point brilliantly:
Tiberian Sun. By far the coolest, best storyline, funnest, and most balanced. But the next game the creators made sucked, completely: Red Alert 2. All because they were too focused on graphics.
I think the project got cancelled because there was no way to compete with the new strategy games that are coming out, that will, no doubt, suck ~_~ and so we're stuck with nothing to satisfy our crave for commanding battalions of aliens in epic warfare to conquer the world.

Well, don't read much into this. There was never any announcement (officially) of the genre of game Phoenix was supposed to be, although most of us assumed it was strategy.
Even so, there's no particular reason to believe the project the Phoenix team is working on now isn't also a strategy game.
