Myth - 04 Homecoming

We're playing the next of Bungie's famous games, the Real Time Tactics fantasy wargame, Myth. Set in a mysterious land of cyclical war and destruction, Myth lets you command an ragtag army in a desperate battle against the forces of the Fallen Lords.

The Head wants us to search a destroyed cathedral in the ruined city of Covenant for a book called the Total Codex.

Due to the tireless work of many community members over the years, the Myth engine has been modernized to work on current operating systems, although you'll still need a copy of the game's data files to play. Check Ebay.

For the engine itself as well as texture enhancements, go to Project Magma:

There's also multiplayer metaserver available for competitive carnage:

A bunch of other Myth-related downloads are available at The Tain:

The Legion runs a distraction attack into the wight-infested town of Comfort. Overwhelmed by wights, we eventually downshift into Simple difficulty to get this mission completed. Hopefully for the last time.

In this first level, a small detachment of soldiers left behind to defend the sleepy village of Crow's Bridge get a nasty surprise when the enemy's animated corpses, the Thrall, emerge from the river.

For Your Eyes Only

The S'pht decide to give the cyborg a special reward, and this easter egg produces the first level worthy of an inclusion in Anita Sarkeesian's "Tropes vs Women" series as we're led into a pool full of nude female simulacra. Just be sure to play nice, unlike Narcogen.

We're fighting the Pfhor in Italy of the past in third party scenario Tempus Irae!

Tempus Irae can be played, like the other Marathon games, using the open source Aleph One engine which you can get here for Windows, Mac and Linux:

http://source.bungie.org

Tempus Irae and other third party scenarios for the Aleph One engine can be downloaded here:

There's a ZIP format archive here:

We use irons' Co-Op script, (but not this time) which gives weapons and ammo to both players if either picks any up, and prevents weapon loss on death (so items can't be destroyed in lava or slime). The script also allows one player to teleport to a destination set by themselves or their partner, in case co-op players run into a problem a solo player would have to restart for.

Let's Play Mass Effect: #15

Once again, we were planning on going straight to Feros, but the Admiral wants us to pat down some monkeys.

We're now running on the Xbox One in Backwards Compatibility mode. Since DLC is no longer supported, this means we did an off-camera scratch start with a new character who looks a lot like the earlier one and is an Infiltrator, but has a different background, a few more Renegade points, and now actually has to level up abilities and collect weapons and armor for herself and the crew.

This is the first in our new Spectator Mode series, where we try to co-op games that don't actually have co-op. First up, the sweeping space opera Mass Effect, that has all the classic RPG features that Bungie's Destiny left out, as well as all the clumsy third person shooting features they never put in.

This is Mass Effect.

WARNING: This is an "adult game" with "adult themes" whatever that means. What it means for this playthrough is that characters are going to use some mild language that might be inappropriate for small children, and we're not going to be censoring it or ourselves. We're still going to avoid f-bombs and particularly graphic language, but be warned, this isn't going to be as squeaky clean as some of our other series.

We're also leaving in conversations as well as combat; the trimming on this series will be minimal, but we'll start each episode with a recap of major events.

Let's Play Destiny Co-op #108 A Sword Reforged

See video
A Sword Reforged
The final step for getting an exotic sword is running a Light 300 version of the Darkblade strike on the Dreadnaught. This version adds the elemental-shielded Warden knights from the Founts area to the boss fight, and requires that you kill the Knight with the elemental shield corresponding to the element of the sword you're trying for no more than 30 seconds before killing the boss. Stuntmutt got his on the first try, but Narc didn't, probably because he was dead when the boss died or because he killed his knight too early. Several runs later (after realizing a failure means restarting the whole strike, not just a checkpoint) stabbim comes in to pinch hit for Stunt and Narc gets his sword.
