... approaches closer to the camera...
A ship, presumably piloted by a player, swings around from the far side of the Traveler...
The limitations are our imagination, our ability to conceive these ideas, and that's a pretty special place to be in.
Jones' shirt appears to have a slogan on it in mixed English and Latin, reading "I do, therefore I am."
One of only two shots that show natural landscapes without structures, vehicles or characters. The color scheme indicates either a non-Earth location or a significant environmental change.
I can't really decide if enemies have classes like Guardians do, but given that Covenant and Pfhor enemies in previous games also had variations, it seems likely. These might be a major kind of Cabal, or perhaps something else entirely.
The vertical slit helmet here is similar to that shown earlier on a human Warlock character, and the large shield on the left hand definitely evokes the feel of a Hunter from Halo.
...trying to stamp us out for good.
Still no clearer reason why humanity is so deserving of a stamping out.
These "rhino-like" Cabal, looking like a cross between Halo's Hunters and Mass Effect's Volus, appear to be on Venus or perhaps Mars, and in possession of some rather large guns with some rather large bayonets and a considerably larger wheeled vehicle.
Destiny wouldn't feel like a modern Bungie game without some vehicular combat, so here's hoping we get to blow up a lot of these in a bunch of different ways.
... and they're pressing hard against the cit, probing for a weakness.
Much may hinge on what the motivation is for these numerous factions of aliens to be invading Earth. Resources? Living space? Religious significance?
If these aliens did not originate in our solar system, where did they come from, and how did they get here?
With technology so much more advanced than what humanity possesses, of what interest is Earth, either to the invading factions or to the Traveler?
The first image released again, showing the Fallen, a spider tank, and, if IGN is to be believed, a four-armed spider pirate in the distance, riding the tank.
Capes seem to be popular in the world of Destiny.
...strange and deadly creatures have occupied our old worlds.
These enemies are the Vex, described as "time-traveling robots". From the dominance of the color yellow, the Destination is probably Venus.
No Jason Jones in evidence, toweled or otherwise.
... only to find that we're not alone
Before, they were waiting somewhere in the heavens. Now it appears they're down here on Earth, with us.
A Hunter in the foreground conceals themselves against a dark patrol of Fallen and Cabal.
That sniper rifle looks familiar, no?
Meanwhile, on Pandora, the Vault Hunters find an old Russian space shuttle.
Just kidding.
... and now we've begun to venture back into the wild...
Human technology certainly seems to be more primitive here than in Halo, probably not due only to the unknown cause of destruction, but just a generally earlier level of development, hence the lack of FTL.
...but slowly we joined together to build a city beneath the Traveler.
Bits appear to either be falling off the Traveler, or perhaps have been removed by humanity for expansion and construction of the Last City. Either that, or what we are seeing here is battle damage from the ancient conflict. Some pieces appear suspended above the earth without visible means of support.
The years that followed the collapse of the Golden Age were hard...
The pictured building appears to be a station of some kind, with its signage still partially visible.
The last four letters before "Station" may be "THIS" forming the end of a longer word, or perhaps "INIS"
The mysterious sphere still hangs where it made its last stand... low above the Earth, keeping silent watch.
