Cody Miller of HaloReachIsNotCanon.Net played the Destiny Alpha on PS4 last week and came on to talk about the footage with Blackstar and Narcogen. In this first segment we cover three areas of the game: character creation, a story mission, and the Tower.

Further segments later this week will show exploration, multiplayer, and a strike.

Oops! We missed a level. Thanks to zdude0127 who pointed out that we went ahead and posted Naw Man He's Close without going back for this secret Aie Mak Sicur variation, Carroll Street Station. More deaths by juggernaught await!

Jason Jones tells you everything you need to know about Destiny (almost) while also showing off a few new character designs, environments, enemies, and map locations. There's a shot of a Venus map, and a location in the overview map called "the reef" which I'm guessing is the asteroid belt.

Bungie put out a new Destiny trailer for E3 2014 that lays out the game's premise in a pretty straightforward way and also shows off a bit of gameplay.

UPDATE: The audio in this version is messed up. A replacement is uploading, and when it's done, I'll replace the embedded version here with the new one.

UPDATE 2: This version should have the fixed commentary audio.

Tycho wants us to flip some switches. How novel! Then we run into Blake again, sort of-- his BOBs are trying to kill us with fusion pistols.

A good mix of both gameplay and some additional story in Bungie's "New Beginnings" trailer for E3 2014.

Also the first time I think I've seen it explicitly stated (by Peter Dinklage's voiceover here) what I've suspected for awhile here-- that the Traveler was the cause of both humanity's lost golden age and its downfall, and the enemies we face are the enemies of the Traveler, not necessarily the enemies of humanity.

Still, that might not ever become relevant, but it is something I've been thinking about for awhile.

One of my favorite YouTube LPers, Effing Controller, has started a Let's Play of Myth II: Soulblighter. (He's already done The Fallen Lords).

NOTE: Marathon Infinity goes on hiatus after this episode and will return in June.

In between each of Marathon Infinity's many timelines lie the dream levels. This is dream level that follows Electric Sheep Two, much in the same way Electric Sheep One is followed by Where Are Monsters In Dreams, and like that level, the layout is strange and the only enemies are invisible-- in this case, compilers. This level can lead back to the next level in the Rage chapter, Naw Man He's Close, or to the secret level #29, Carroll Street Station.

In between each of Marathon Infinity's many timelines lie the dream levels. This is the second of the Electric Sheep variations. This level can lead back to Acme Station or forward to Caroll Street Station (itself an Aie/Aye Mak Sicur variation).

Cody Miller (pinkynarftroz on YouTube) demonstrates what we didn't (or rather couldn't... perhaps even wouldn't) do in the original Marathon: use the grenade launcher to climb a sheer wall. The latest version of Aleph One is actually able to duplicate this behavior when working with the original map files now-- the M1A1 scenario that was adapted from the original game for the Marathon Infinity engine can't, which is why some invisible ledges were added to some levels to allow certain places to be reached.

This water processing facility clearly isn't full enough of slime, since Durandal wants us to open a door and let some more in. Time for some swimming! Just mind the Juggernaughts.

We're back on L'howon, wandering around a water processing facility, looking for information on a S'pht AI from Pfhor terminals. What a surprise! Also there's more disturbing news about Pfhor experiments on S'pht and Flick'ta.

Thanks to everyone who has watched and listened to ASE over the past few years-- this is our 100th episode!

Special thanks go to Blackstar who is playing Marathon with me, to Bungiefen Miguel Chavez and Cody Miller who have been co-hosts many, many times, and to Trindacut who first convinced me that Rampancy should have a podcast and cohosted many of the early Halo-focused episodes.

Enjoy!

Durandal has sent us to a Pfhor orbital repair facility to blow up some stuff! Sounds like fun. Prepare to drink vacuum!
