  2. Konoko In Bullet Time?

Sun, 10/14/2001 - 06:58 by narcogen

nimrod posted an item in our community forum about something he noticed in the flipcode site's forum; someone named Pierre Terdiman has apparently been able to get data out of Oni's files and use them inside a custom-built engine of his own. He calls it Oni Breaker. There are screenshots of it there, but not much else available at the moment.

Apparently his ambition is to be able to play Oni in a manner similar to Max Payne's bullet time mode.

CORRECTION: We originally reported that Terdiman had exported Oni's models into the Max Payne engine; nimrod provided a clarification that the engine in use was in fact Terdiman's own, but that it is intended to have a capability similar to Max Payne's bullet time mode. Thanks nimrod.

Sorry if I wasn't clear... it seems he's imported models (incl. animations) into his own engine, and has also added bullet-time to his engine. That's probably a lot less interesting than if he got Konoko into Max Payne, oh well.

If you read the thread over at flipCode, he gives a URL for a test app (Windows), although it just seems to be looping through her animations, I couldn't see any bullet-time. I like his idea for importing Muro as well and creating a Tekken-like game with Muro and Konoko.

His screenshots also show that he's increased the poly count significantly, presumably using something similar to ATI's Truform.
