Myth@Bungie.org spotted a new article by GameSpy on Myth III. It has some interesting information, including that of Myth III's multiplayer service. Nate Timperley writes:
Myth 3's gameplay has not changed from its predecessors. You'll need to strategically use your band of fighters, archers, dwarves, and more to try to minimize losses. Mumbo Jumbo didn't want to give away all of the details of the new characters that will be at your disposal, but they did allude to having more kinds of dwarven units at your disposal, and that we should expect a new take on wights. Expect to see all of your favorite enemies such as ghols, soulless, and the fearsome myrkridia. In addition to the campaign, Myth 3 will be offering multiplayer support with numerous gametypes, with matchmaking provided by our very own GameSpy Arcade. The build that we looked at was very sharp, and we were told that we can expect this prequel out in October of this year. Time to start sharpening those swords!
Varients of Dwarves? Although it was acknowledged by fisj as a bug, the Dwarf in the Myth III E3 trailer was throwing an axe...
Timperley also claims that Myth III will be using GameSpy Arcade for its multiplayer services. This has been mentioned as an option by Mumbo Jumbo before and it has been explored a bit by Ammo, who weighs the pros and cons.
The feature also hosts several of the first Myth III images that were released last week. The difference here is that, unlike the versions hosted by GameSpot that are 800x600, these are 1024x768, i.e. substantially larger in size. You will find that one of the images is incorrectly linked. I've contacted the author, but in the meantime, you can access it here.
Timperley says that Myth III will be released in October, but we've repeatedly heard November from Mumbo Jumbo. Only a month off, but that could make a huge difference.
