Just to collect some of the recent Oni revelations in one place. On the Oni Central forum there's been a lively discussion about an Oni demo, whether or not there will be one, and when, and for what machines. Matt Soell basically said in his post that everyone is busy finishing the game and we should ask about the demo later.
A reporter from Inside Mac Games pointed us to an article about the official release date for Oni from the Gathering Of Developers. That date is January 29.
From IMG's story:
Sharp-eyed fellas at Oni Central have noticed that Rockstar Games now has an Oni site up. It's got a new movie that shows (among other things) cutscenes and the user interface. The official site launch won't be until December, but it's definitely worth a look right now. (You need Flash, by the way.)
This week's Oni Update by Matt Soell is up at Oni Central. The main news is how the testing is going, and things look good:
Many beta testers died to bring us this information.
In a shocking turn of events, the much anticipated release of Oni has apparently been postponed indefinitely. While no official word has yet been given, those beta testers whose cortex bombs had not yet been triggered were able to give us a few sketchy details before their heads were exploded before our very eyes.
It appears that Oni is indeed approaching reality. In this week's Oni Update at Oni Central, (pointed out to us by Louis Wu of bungie.org) Bungie's own Matt Soell confirmed that beta testing of the Macintosh version is underway, and that the PC version has reached final candidate.
Sources have confirmed that beta testing of Oni for the Macintosh has now begun, and that the PC version of the game is now in Final Candidate stage.
Also, strangely enough, it seems as if the Mac version might also reach FC very soon, possibly as early as next week, although that hasn't been confirmed. More as we hear it.
