The Shadow is an armed Covenant personnel carrier. It has a roof-mounted plasma turret that bears a lot of resemblance to the Shade turret from Halo 1.

The Master Chief destroys several of these with a Warthog-mounted Gauss gun in the E3 realtime demonstration from 2003.

The Shadow has a crew of two (driver and gunner) and can carry up to 8 infantry units, including Elites, Brutes, Grunts or Jackals.

This item was erroneously referred to in the Halo2.com site's XML files as the "Creep". This might have been an early name.

i think that's a spectre

Nope, this is a Creep.

Another vehicle, called the Spectre, was supposed to be a Warthog equivalent. It was shown in the E3 2000 video, but was red, not purple. It is not known if will be in Halo 2 or not, but has not been seen since that video.

UPDATE: Now that the game is out, of course, it's known that the Spectre is in the game, and it's still red.

Apologies on the earlier name mistake-- it appears the name "creep" is not in use, and that this vehicle's official name is the "Shadow".

In reply to: false info on halo 2

There is no false information here. The Shadow (then called the Creep) appears in the E3 demo that was shown in 2003. It also appears in the game.

The fact that the level that was shown in the E3 demo is not exactly the same as the levels Outskirts and Metropolis in the shipping game is not the point-- this vehicle was still shown in the demo, and it still appears in the game; it's now called a Shadow and it is a Covenant troop transport.

Just because the events in the demo don't occur in the game doesn't make the information "false". That demo still exists, and that vehicle is still in it and in the game.

It is not driveable, to respond to a question elsewhere in the thread.

We do our best here at Rampancy to make sure the information on the site is accurate, making updates and changes as necessary. But in this case we've made clear the distinction between the events and items in the E3 demo as well as differences between it and the game; the information is just different, not inaccurate.

Can you actualy drive the shadow in halo 2??

narcogen's picture

In reply to: The shadow

No, the shadow is not drivable. Perhaps a mobile Shade turret was unbalanced, given the weapon's high rate of fire and infinite ammunition.

No you cannot ,but you can use its gun

You can also use the shadow's gun on the top when their isn't an elite on it. Its a great weapon to mow down troops and vehicles. I don't preffer using it on legendary
