Plasma turrets are stationary guns, usually used by Covenant to defend strategic positions. In Halo 1, the users of these guns were especially vulnerable to snipers, Banshees and grenades. For Halo 2, it appears as if the turret (also called a Shade) has gotten a serious makeover, in addition to getting a plasma shield, which the first iteration did not have.

Based on the commercials there seems to be a needler version of this that my or may not be mounted on a vehichle, it doesnt show clearly.

In reply to: various turrets...Yes, there seem to be turrets mounted on the huge walking thing that fire something that looks red. Might be a needler turret, or just a red plasma weapon (although it would be the first such in the game, if so)
