This has probably already been discussed a lot already but oh well... How did the covenant reach/find Earth? I think that Guilty Spark betrayed us even more and told of the location of Earth to the Covenant. I recall that when he was in the Pillar of Autumn gathering information that he said, a record of human history perhaps? That would probably mean that he found out where Earth is and all of the human history. Since he survived the explosion of Halo, he could easily turn and inform the Covenant of Earth. Any thoughts?

I don't think that's true at all. It is in every way possible that 343GS could have told the Covenant. We all know that he is quite spontaneous, and may have used this knowledge to bribe the covenant to spare his life or something. This leads us to yet ANOTHER question.

Researching a post form another part of the board, which stated that Cortana might actually betray you, due to what she found from the knowledge of the core, If 343GS knew this too, and had just been assured that you were human when you refused to place the index, then he might also fear you, or be angry at you for the same reason that Cortana was. This and the fact that you had probably insulted or offended him in the Library may have been cause for his reporting you to the covenant. I'm not all that sure, though ..

But you must remember who we're talking about, here. 343 GS is a high-tech piece of machinery! I'm sure he'd have no trouble finding other intelligent life-forms such as the covenant.

no, 343 didnt give up the location of reach or earth. if you have read the fall of reach, you would know the covenant place a tracking device on one of the UNSC's battlecruisers, and that tracker is taken to reach by that ship. i believe the name of the ship is the iriquoise.

Will the Monitor betray us? I threw at least 30 plasma greanades at the thing, hoping, just hoping that may be he would blow up and leave me alone. That got me killed a couple of times (I hate the Flood), but if those grenades had killed him, even if a got killed by the Flood as he was being obliterated, it would have been worth it. *MarineChick*
