[image:4108 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]According to Gholsbane at MBO, the MythDev team has released what they believe will be the last patch to Myth 2, barring any show-stopping bugs popping up. It's version 1.4.3, and it not only features the ability to run natively in OS X, but now it has an OS X CD Installer program, so you can go straight from a Myth 2 CD to version 1.4.3, including PlayMyth support. If you want to play on marius.net, you'll need a patch.

Myth 1.4.3
I know that this update, and the acrimony between MythDev and Marius.net, has become somewhat of a controversy in recent weeks, further dividing a community, that while still going strong after many years-- far longer than most games-- is still not as large or strong as it once was.
Politics aside, after upgrading to Mac OS X last year, Myth had been banished from my hard drive. Having been an avid user of BSD based platforms for hosting, I resolved to try and stay away from dual-booting and stay away from Classic as much as possible. In fact, I don't think I've started Classic more than twice, and never used it on a regular basis for anything.
Compared to the myriad patches for Myth that came before, this one was a breeze-- and the OS X CD installer worked like a charm. In just minutes, I went from having an old game CD with dust on it, to having a game that ran smooth as glass, looked great, and loaded quickly. I then did the same for a Windows 2K machine I have in the office, and then an old Powerbook running OS 9.2. All the installations went perfectly, and all the machines run the game well.
If more people looked at what an achievement this version of Myth really is-- rather than on the history of how it got made-- it might be a better thing for the Myth community.
