Well everybody, this is my first forum, so don't be surprised if I don't do it right. Anyway, this one will be about the weapons in Halo 3, because I know that there are quite a few things people want to discuss about them.

Let's start off with the Brute set of weapons. Obviously, the Brute Shot is coming back, which is very good, in my opinion. I liked the Brute Shot a lot in Halo 2, because the melee attack was just as strong as a sword attack, and the grenades could bounce around corners and hit enemies instead of having to charge right at them, which is very helpful if they are in ghosts. How do all of you people feel about the Brute Shot?

Next we'll go to the spiker, which I think will be pretty cool. Instead of just having a red version of the plasma rifle for their rapid fire weapon, they actually get their own type. And with the same kind of melee device at the back as the Brute Shot, it probably has a strong effect. Once again, what do you all feel like about it?

Now, we move to the spike grenade. This is the only probably the only Brute weapon I think won't be very good. Yes, it does have the ability to adhere to walls and other beings, which is much like the plasma grenade, except for the walls. Even though it will probably have a much greater range and higher damage rate than the plasma, I just don't think it will really be all that useful. Please give me your opinion on this weapon.

I am going to address the plasma cannon seen carried by a brute very briefly, because nothing has truly been confirmed about that. If Brutes do end up carrying those around in game, it will make the brutes a little harder to kill, which will make it more interesting. That's all I can really say about it now, though, so if you want to comment, go ahead, but I really don't need your opinions on this one.

The hammer. The old, annoying, hammer. If we are able to wield the Brute hammer, in Halo 3, that will be quite interesting. All it is is a giant, really strong melee weapon, but if Bungie balances it enough, it would probably end up being a pretty good weapon to have in Halo 3, in the campaign mode at least, but in multiplayer, it would probably end up being like a super powered sword from Halo 2, with infinite ammo, and all. But if they balance it enough in the campaign mode, and don't even put a reticle on the screen(because a reticle for a hammer would just be wierd,) it would probably end up being pretty good, but only in campaign. AGAIN, please give me your thoughts on this.

If you have any other comments on this, or if my info is wrong, then just tell me and I'll modify it as soon as possible. I'll soon be doing 2 more entries under the same subject, Halo 3 Weapons, and one will be on other known covenant weapons at this time, and the other known human weapons. Anyway, please leave any comments that you have.
Thank You and, once again, Happy New Year!!!

I have to be honest, I never really got the hang of it. There are some places where Bungie clearly wants you to use it (mostly in Uprising) but I never felt really effective with it. A lot of times, if I try for a direct hit with it (no bounce) the projectile just seems to slide by the target, exploding harmlessly behind it.

When trying to do bounce shots, I'm only really effective when shooting up or down, or at medium to close range. At long range, I tend to misjudge the bounce and not get any hit at all. I suppose I'm expecting it to work more like Quake's old rocket launcher or grenade launcher in terms of splash damage, and not adjusting my aim accordingly.

I do think it was a sure sign of Bungie running out of time that the Brute plasma pistol even exists. So it's good that the Brutes are getting a more distinctive spawn weapon for the rank and file, and from the Brute VIDOC, it looks pretty neat.

However, as it seems on a par with the plasma rifle or SMG in terms of function, I'll probably stay away from it in-game, as I rarely use those weapons myself in Halo 2.

I'm not sure, but I think this weapon has a lot of potential. I'd like a grenade I can get to stick anywhere-- on walls or ceilings, instead of just targets. The only thing I can think that would make it more useful would be an optional remote detonator.

The damage range might be greater than a plasma, but my understanding is that it will be focused in a cone depending on which way the grenade is facing, and not in all directions. So some skill will be required in grenade placement.

Elites dual-wielding plasma rifles on Legendary can produce a pretty daunting rate of fire. I think this weapon is an attempt to give a Brute a similar amount of firepower, but without the dual wielding-- perhaps to leave him free to throw grenades as well.

I don't think the hammer a high-ranking Brute is going to wield in Halo 3 is necessarily going to be the same as the hammer Tartarus had, with its special effects. I think it'll be more like the Elite sword-- a powerful melee weapon that they'll carry for close-range combat.

In reply to: Brute weapons

Thanks for your opinion on everything!!! I personally didn't use the smg or plas rifle very much either, but, heck, got to try out the spiker. And I like your ideas about the plasma cannon and the hammer to. The only problem I have with the hammer is that, once again, it will probably have infinite ammo, a complete power weapon if you get it. Sure, it might end up weaker than the sword, but the sword has ammo cause it was purely energy. The hammer, as far as we know, is some sort of metal or stone, OR IS IT?!?!?!?!?

Anyway, thanks for leaving your opinion, so now I can leave you out of my "Cheese Hunt." If you don't know what it is, just read my other comment, you should find out. lol.

I dont agree on the spike grenade idea. I think that giving brutes their own weapons is alright but a personal grenade? Your right, it probably is the same thing as a plasma grenade.

I like all the brute weapons, expessially the new spiker.
but i hope bungie brings back all the original weapons too, dont you?
but one thing i dont want is the hammer, i think that would just be annoying, i like my good old sword.

I doubt they'll remove the sword. They'll just add the hammer.

What's wrong with options? If you don't like the hammer, don't use it.

I think the weapons on H3 are preety much perfect, nothing is gone and heaps is added. i also like it how you can blow up the covenant drop ships(forgot what there called).I just hate it when a No0b decideds to get a Gravity hammer and a sword, then they just go on a spree. Its GAYYYYYY, JUST LIKE CHEESE MAN(NOT REALLY). The spike nade is AWSOME to me cause im sik of the plasma not sticking to walls. But theres no scarab gun in H3 witch is gay, just like cheese man. There is 2 more thing, i HATE it how the hammer looks like sum sorta bone in H2, but in H3 it looks like a neatly crafted , over sized hammer. But there is sumthin really fun 2 do with the hammer, BASEBALLLLLLLL!!!!, JUST SH0Ot a rocet launcher at gravity hammer person, and person hits rocket away, which make it spin out and it looks like a spike nade.
