Question about modding on Halo 2

Is it possible for Bungie to see if you have mod chips on your Xbox even though you don't use them on matchmaking? And can they ban you for it? Because I've seen some awesome mods and I really want to use them without getting banned.

For MS/Xbox Live, yes

If you've got a modchip on an Xbox that connects to Live, it's very likely Microsoft can see that, regardless of whether you use your chip and your mods only in custom games or not.

Bungie only bans people from Halo for Halo-specific offenses. Xbox Live has separate people and methods for dealing with modified Xboxes that may or may not have anything to do with Halo.

Generally speaking, if you've got a modded Xbox, the only way to be safe is to keep it off Xbox Live.

Some people I know who have and use modded Xboxes have a separate one just for that purpose, and have an unmodded Xbox for use on Live.
