Ive been playing steadily for the past 4 days... taking notes on things I thought might help add to other parts of the Halo puzzle, and also add more pieces. Here are some of the things Ive noticed/seen/heard ((Most of this has been taken from the level The Library)): 343 GS says something about your weapons being vastly ineffecient for battling the flood... What weapons could Marvin Matubo have used thousands of years ago to battle them? He mentions that the covenant have unleashed the flood from containment chambers. He mentions something that sounded like Its a good thing you have an artificial enviornment, b/c when Halo's atmosphere evaporates you can still live ---> thats not verbatum but its awful close to what he says. Whats that mean anyways? He says something about the ring being made to study & contain the flood; if thats so, why would it also be made to destroy all life in the galaxy ((that being the floods food source))???? He said that the forrunners race depended upon the study and containment of the flood.. and just after that he mentioned that some still exist!! ((That being the forrunners)). Another question I have is.. Why did the forrunners make such HUGE structures such as the huge elevators/doors/hallways?????!!! Also; why would they create such a beautiful structure just to contain the flood and also to destroy it?? Why such scenery and canyons/chasms???? Theres just too much to understand...

First off, thousands of years ago, the Flood probably weren't released from their containment chambers, he was probably just collecting the index 'cause he wanted access to all high securety stuff in the Halo mainframe (at least, I think that's what the Index is for). The Covenant did release the Flood, but they did manage to contain them again, but then them humans came (as you can see on the level "343 GS") and released them again.
343 GS litterally says: "Your environment suit should serve you well when the Flood begins to alter the atmosphere. You are a good planner." (This I copied from HBO, in the story page, level transcripts)It means that the Flood will change whatever atmosphere they're in to match their needs, but MC has a special suit enabling him to breath in every atmosphere.
Halo is probably made to destroy the whole galaxy as some sort of failsafe, in case the Flood escape, halo will destroy it's food so the Flood can't spread.
They probably made their structures this big because the forerunners are big, or the stuff they're moving through these structures is big, or because they like big buildings. Those Canyons and stuff are probably to remind the Forerunners of their homeworld, as some sort of nice living-place for them.
And yes, THE FORERUNNERS STILL EXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!

In reply to: First off, thousands of yearsif you've read the book the flood it lets you know that mabuto didn't come thousand of years ago hes a marine from the POA because the chief takes his dogtags off his mutated and destroyed body!

In reply to: Re: First off, thousands of yearswell, since i didn't read the book cauz i can't seem to find it for sale anywhere in holland (where i live), i think Marvin was terribly lucky to have survived to make it this far, since he was a marine from the POA he probably didn't have any special weapons, he just was terribly lucky.
by the way, i think we will get to see some forerunners in halo 2 or 3
