What is Rampancy?

Rampancy the site is a place devoted to games made by Bungie Studios, née Bungie Software, Incorporated.

These games include Macintosh classics such as Minotaur and the Marathon Trilogy, the award-winning, cross-platform, real-time strategy games Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth II: Soulblighter, the Mac, PC and PlayStation full-contact anime action title Oni, and most recently the bigger-than-life-itself Xbox first person shooter titles Halo and Halo 2.

The name "rampancy" comes from the Marathon series, where it refers to what happens to an artificial intelligence that grows beyond control.

Rampancy began as a site called The Core in spring of 1999, founded by Tyson "Ferrex" Green and others. Ferrex had previously worked on a Myth site. Ferrex is currently employed by Bungie and has worked on both Halo and Halo 2.

After Halo's announcement but before the sale of independent Bungie Software to Microsoft to become the centerpiece of Microsoft Game Studios, The Core changed web hosts, changed its name to Rampancy in a stunning and dramatic display engineered by Ferrex, and finally settled into its current form on the Drupal content management system where it is hosted and adminstrated by Narcogen.

Below you can find a few bits of helpful information on how Rampancy (the site) works.
