If any of you have beaten Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty and payed close attention to the credits then you have seen the "Coming February 9th." This is amazing. When you play thru Halo 2 to the end for the first time you aren't expecting it to end when it does. It feels like half of a game. I don't think Bungie rushed it out because they had plenty of time and frankly I think Bungie has more respect for thier work than that. February 9 could be any number of things or days for that matter. 2005 or 2006? Halo 2 part 2 or Halo 3? Something different entirely? There have been rumors that the next Halo was already in development before Halo 2 was released. Could bungie be planning to release the second part of the game just 3 months after the first? This would be very original and make them twice the money of 1 game because everyone that bought Halo 2 will want the next one. Whatever the case is I would love to know what will happen and what you all think, and keep in mind Bungie is known for surprises, secrets, and never letting us down.

If u do find out anything even if its just a rumour sen me an e-mail at westi_1@hotmail.com

The Chief's name is John-117. That's been known for a long time; it's in the novels.

I read their review (i can't remember which issue...the most recent one), and they said, pertaining to downloads, "a huge one"...they didn't really bitch about the ending either. They know something about the 9th of february.

i know it.

Nothing is happening February 9; Bungie has already denied the rumor about that date.

okay listen up guys cause im only saying it once. its very easy to see why bungie plays these mind games with us and adding a date to there end credits. 1)it gives more suspense to gamers. 2)it give more publicity and speculation to the game. since i know what the true meaning of the date is from some inside sources (hint hint, wink wink). i would be more then willingly share my knowledge with you guys. ever notice how hard it is to beat halo 2 on legendary? (i've on played on heroic myself and it seems impossible even at that leve) does it seem infact much more harder then the original halo? if your thinking yes, then your right. theres a reason why bungie did make the game alot harder. for there february 9th release date of downloadable content for halo 2 via xbox live. this downloadable content is only known by a few, and i myself am not sure of all the details. but i will tell you what i know, on february 9th the co-op campaign will be available for xbox live. this is why bungie made it so hard on legendary and did not comment on anything when they were asked in an interview about co-op live. (dont remember the site, possibly gamespot or hbo) yes its true my friends, co-op will be available on xbox live. not too sure of the details but i do believe that the co-op campaign will be available for (and up to) 8 players. exciting, i know. please dont give me criticism for this knowledge or if i am wrong, because i will admit, im not someone from bungie. just another huge halo fan like yourselves that just happens to know the right people. yes i was wishing for the impossible when hearing the news at first of a 2004 release of halo 3, but after finding the truth i became just as excited. sorry if there was not enough detail, but im just telling you good people what i know. if any of you have any questions feel free to contact me xbox live (gamertag-AoD Kongfu). im on the top 1000 for big team battle if you guys wanna play :). anyway talk to you guys later.

For the last time-- there's no date on the end credits. This is a false rumor and it's already been denied by Bungie.

narcogen, would you happen to have a link to that if possible?

... as it comes in part from my mailbox, in part from conversations, and in part from announcements made by Bungie on their own forum, which unfortunately lacks a search function.

So I guess you can either trust me on that, or instead of requiring me to prove a negative (a philosophical impossibility) just ask that whomever is saying that date appears in the credits provide a screenshot or, preferably, a movie.

If someone can come up with a legitimate one, I'll eat my words and go back to Bungie and ask what it means.

In reply to: narcogen don't get me wrong,

Have you seen it yourself? Have you seen a non-doctored screenshot, or better yet, a movie?

Bungie flat-out denied this one: that date isn't in there. The credits are the same on Legendary as on every other difficulty level. This one was just plain made up.

Narcogen You didn't really answer my last question. If there isn't anything happening on Feburary 9th, why did they put it in? I believe you but I just don't get it..
narcogen's picture

In reply to: Narcogen You didn't really a

Marine, look at my posts all over the board.

That date IS NOT IN THE GAME. It DOES NOT APPEAR IN THE CREDITS.

Unless you have seen and filmed this personally so I can see it, please believe me. Bungie has confirmed already several times, that the credits for the game ARE THE SAME regardless of what difficulty you complete the game at, that this date (some rumors said Feb 8, some said Feb 9) DOES NOT APPEAR in those credits and that NOTHING IS HAPPENING on that date.

Why do you persist on believing in something you've never seen and that Bungie has denied?

i want a picture of it cuz i just watched my friend beat it on legendary and there was nothing.....
Anonymous's picture
if you watch the special edition dvd behind the scenese thing, they DID rush it, they didnt get to inlcude ALOT of what they wanted, and the ending(which was suppose to be a huge finale on earth and therefor the end - no halo 3 with all the same characters) were all cuyt from the project because they didnt have the time to they also didnthave time to fix a few bugs and if you read reviws, you know hwat they are , or if yoi have played it and from, what i hear from many people, beating on legendary changes nothing, and thats actually what bungie says too so yeagh, its half a game with a lot left out (characters, levels, weapons, the entire ending on earth) - but inspite of that its still a great game - i just wish bungie have spent less time taking a vacation after halo 1 and more time getting everthting they wanted into halo 2. keep in mind they didnt realy start werk on halo 2 right acter halo 1, so i blame them entirely for not mnaking more of the time so the game could be better. here is what pisses me of fnow: they arent going to make halo3 there next game. So let me get this straight, agter the rush-job that is halo 2 (in the sense the tehy didnbt do the game they wanted to do due to time contraints), how dare they now just dump it all to move on to somethong else. If I were them, i would start NOW on halo 3 for the xbox2/xenon so when it's released in 2006 (to compete with playstation 3 release), it not only looks perfect, but its the complete game they wanbt with the best grpahics and finally a game that NOONE can say has a better to it. (halo relaly could have shown hl2 dick heads what its all about, nbut not its still for contention) i luv bungie for this game, but at the same tiem FUCK THEM for creating a rush-job. On the flip side, considering that halo 2 is mostly a rush job, amazing its as good as it is oh yeagh, and FUCK LEGENDARY -it is soo hard, all day and im stil on the cairo and the secdond wave of boarders is IMPOSSIBLE!

Keep in mind, Parsons was quoted once saying they were going to "do something different" but they have since backtracked and said they haven't decided.

And most expect Xenon this year, not 2006. Frankly I don't think there's time to make halo 3 as a launch title for it, given that Halo 2 took three full years.

It is damn tough. Took me hours. Try carrying in some weapons from the common area and dropping them. Don't use any grenades, if possible, in the first hangar, so you have them for the second. Try giving the marine in hangar 1 a battle rifle, if you can spare it.

Make sure you pick up and drop ALL the weapons in hangar bay 1 before going to hangar bay 2; being able to go back and reload can save you.

Try taking out what you can in hangar 2 from outside the door while not exposed to the plasma turrets; once you take them out, the marines charge into the room and (many times) are killed quickly. If they aren't, try replacing their SMGs with BRs, they will be more effective.

Resist the temptation to take out too many Grunts first; as reinforcements arrive after you've killed not all, but just a certain number of the units in the previous wave. If you kill all the Grunts early, you'll have 1-2 Elites left when reinforcements arrive and you could end up with a lot of live Elites left at the very end when the sword guys arrive. You can still beat it this way, but it's even harder.
Try to stick grenades to reinforcements as they drop down to maximize damage.

In my case, I think getting past that encounter depended largely on lucky plasma grenade explosions.

Some players I know swear by the plasma pistol / SMG combo, but I couldn't use it effectively here; staying in the open long enough to charge, aim, and fire the PP burst usually dropped my shield, and usually the target Elite would take cover and others took his place, so I could never finish him off.

Try creating better cover positions for yourself by pushing the two crates near the door up to the boarding ship; this makes getting stickydooms onto Elites easier while leaving you less exposed.

In reply to: Re: why some of what you say is not accurate

One more thing; while you have Marines alive in that room, make sure to concentrate fire. When you hear one of them firing, identify their target and fire on it as well.

Taking down Elites using a BR when they have cover is really frustrating; you'll just waste a lot of ammo. Concentrating fire is the only way to get those sheilds down fast enough to do real damage before they can take cover.

No. The Master Chief is not a robot. He is a human being with certain special enhancements. That is not his face, that's the visor of his helmet.

WE HAVE BEEN PLAYING ON LEGENDARY. IT TAKES US MANY TRIES AND TIME TO GET TO THE 2ND HANGER. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY WE CANNOT SAVE THE GAME HERE? OUR ONLY OPTION AFTER HITTING START IS TO QUIT!!! WE HAVE LEFT THE XBOX ON LAST NIGHT ON PAUSE, DONT KNOW IF THIS IS A BAD IDEA? ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE APPRECIATED-THANK YOU
narcogen's picture

In reply to: LEGENDARY SAVE-GAME

Halo 2, like the original Halo, uses a checkpoint saving system. Every time you reach a checkpoint, the game automatically saves. When you stop playing, the option "Quit and Save" saves the LAST CHECKPOINT you reached, so you can shut off your Xbox.

There is a checkpoint after the first hangar, and then again after the second. To get a checkpoint, you have to get through the encounter without dying-- you can't save in the middle. That's just the way Halo 2 works; you can't "creep and save" by killing one enemy, saving, then continuing.

Yeah. I heard that Bungie had to cut the story line in half for ti to be released on November 9th. If you had a choice would you have waited for Halo 2 to come out in early 2005 with the full story or have it come out the way it did on Nov.9. Think about that.
Anonymous's picture

I wonder........
Anonymous's picture

I have beaten Halo 2 on Legendary, and there is NO SUCH STATEMENT ANYWHERE IN THE CREDITS. I don't know where you got this.... "idea" from, nor do I care. I pity you, for you have to make rumors about a game to feel good about yourself.... you need help. It's a sad day to see idiots like you try to clog up the internet with your garbage.
Anonymous's picture

I think your right it did fill like half a game and that note also made me question what is going to happen then, maybe in a couple of days will find out as feb 9 is approaching.
RealityMatter's picture

It did not feel like half a game to me, more like, 'you would've thought the ending would be as good as The Maw'. Fighting aboss is cool, and he was tough, but come on, how can that compare to the Kilometer Warthog run? Anyways, the February Ninth thing, I highly doubt they'll release 'Halo 2.5'. IF you just listen to the developers, they have not once completely denied the truth. And they have compeltely denied that. The have provided explanatiosn to the cliffhanger too, such as, too much info if did next level, because would have to explain whole Human scene with the Forerunner and 'The Arch' and etc.. That seems liek a far more fitting storyline for Halo 3, or else it would kind of turn into 'too big of a plotline'. I just expect them to release an update with new maps and fixes on Feb. Ninth, yet I guess one could still hope :).
Anonymous's picture

feb.9 dosnt mean there will be a new game it means that there will be content to download on xbx live believe me

I have beaten Legendary and i didn't see any february ninth date. Besides Bungie wants to make money, if it was something big they would have been avertising it by now. Maybe it's not on my game or something but it doesn't seem like a great way to make money, especially when the kids who have a ton of money to spend are aweful at the game anyway. -SanDIE
