Just for a change of pace, do Halo fans know about Oni? Do they have it? Do they play it? What do they think about it? Would you buy an Oni 2 if there was one?

Since Jason came in at the end and changed the code around and we all know that he puts his "Jason Jones type gaming code in games"..then it's more Bungie like then any other non Bungie game out there. There is no way it can be Un Bungie!

I still to this day believe that Oni is the best game ever created for, an awsome mix of hand to hand combat and weapons with a suspensive original storyline mixed with anime themes..sortof metalgear solid ish.

PC gamer said ONI 2 is on the back burner but being made, bungie is focussing on Halo 2 for now.. also a awsome game... but a differnt tipe. Id pay 100 bucks to be able to play Oni 2.

Anyways if anyone has more information on oni 2...

I love Oni.

Frankly, even tho I'm an old Marathon fan, I was hoping to see some of the martial arts stuff brought into Marathon 4, a/k/a Halo. Yes, I'm happy to see the older-style FPS thing executed as well as it was in Halo but I think they missed something by failing to incorporate Oni.

Why? Because Oni is all about movement. Graceful. Fluid. Like flying. It's giddy. I know this genre has been done before - all those side scrolling "Fight!" games - but somehow Oni does it with such elan. It is a joy to play. You know that feeling, you've been on a boat all day and when you finally step ashore the whole planet feels like its rocking on the swell? Oni feels kind like that when you stop playing.

But Oni isn't just some Zen-FPS "feel the force" be-the-game thing. It is pure adreneline. It leaves me breathless. My nerves are shot after an hour or so. My fingers ache from executing all the kicks and whirls and jumps and punches - and from squeezing off a few rounds as well. You really have to *think* to get thru the game. It's not enough to blaze your way thru the baddies but sometimes retreat won't help much, either. And forget sniping - yes, you can shoot people from quite far away, but it's not your strong suit. In any prolonged gun battle you're gonna loose. Oni is a fight game. You succeed with your fists - or feet. You have to watch your opponent, learn from their moves and use the tactic best suited to take them out as quickly and quietly as possible. Unlike Halo or Marathon or any other FPS I can think of (with the possible exception of UT) you are seriously outgunned even at the lowest difficulty setting. You will learn new skills as you progress but your opponents will too. Your sole advantage is your brain. In Oni, twitching is good but thinking is God.

No, it does not have the incredible storyline if Marathon/Halo but that's cool. The whole anime look-and-feel is original. It has a comic-booky kind of dynamic; I mean that in a good way. I'm not a big anime fan but I dig the vibes.

I would *jump* at the chance to play Oni 2, if it ever saw the light of day. Somehow I doubt it ever will, tho. I don't think the original sold very well.

Too bad. Our loss.

In all honesty, Oni was a marvelous idea at its time but the team that developed it fell short of their overall expectations. Ideally Oni was intended to be an online game as well and was dropped due to insufficient framerates online.

Speaking of fluid movements, Ninja Gaiden is the prime example of how to create seamless fighting movements in a single player environment. I think this is the game that Oni tried to be a few years before. It is just too bad that both fell short in terms of online or multiplayer capabilities.

Now that I mentioned it, multiplayer seems to be the next step in the style of gameplay that both Oni and Ninja Gaiden strived to acheive. Could Iron Phoenix be that next step? Only time will tell.

Keep your damn Halo, give me Oni 2! I buy copies of the original Oni from the cutout rack at Fry's to give to my friends, cuz in 4 years, it still hasnt been surpassed as the only FPS/Fighter worth its salt. I'd buy Oni 2 new, which is a streach for me, who buys only one or two games a year.
