Well done! Good luck on heroic - it's not too much of a step up from normal, however the step up from heroic to legendary certainly is! Did you know that if you complete iton legendary the ending sequence is slightly longer? As a reward you get to see something extra. ;)

Yeah, i read the script to the level. You see a Marine and an Elite fighting over an Assault Rifle. Then there's explosions or something and they hold each other cos they're scared.

In reply to: i beat the game on legendary

I have beat the first 2 levels on legendary and have just boarded the Truth and Reconciliation. I'm having some trouble with the 3+ golden elites with swords. I got annoyed of dying so much so I decided to beat the game on normal. I've beat it on easy before on co-op, and I just beat The Silent Cartographer today, and then I played half of AOtCR but decided to kill my marines with the SPnKR instead.

um. er. let's think. if u get a hold of a shotgun, use them, they are good for just picking off the flood. um. jump up on those block things to stop bigger ones getting to u.
That's all i can offer.
Also, i'm now on lvl 3 of heroic. it's damn hard where i am [getting near the gravity lift]

I've beaten the game on all modes. i began with heroic and then legendary. heroic was quite easy (not in the beginning), but legendary is very hard! in the library, when you get to that spot in a small small corridor and get stuck between two corridors covered with flood, kill all the floods in the corridor you came from, and kill everything from there. it's much easier. I hope you understand what I said.
good luck

Not a whole lot has been released at all about what kind of tools will be required to make maps for Halo has there?

Seems it couldn't be too bad of a thing to let people have the heads up considering Halo won't be new to most of us, would be nice if there were already some 3rd party maps lined up to be used in Halo, or at least somebody could already have made the basic layout of their map, etc.

The XBOX is simply this, an extremely fast computer with restrictions on it, keeping if from utalizing it's technology to run anything other than its games, and audio cd's. i think it would be totally worth microsoft and bungie's time to release 3rd or even 1st party software in order to create out own halo maps. also, because the XBOX is the only gaming system (stripped down computer with WINDOWS 2000 kernel on it) with a personal storage device (a hard drive) on it, it would be totally awsome if they released a disc that we could copy to the hard drive containing halo mods and maps (weapons would be cool too, hint, hint). well, yeah, i totally agree with you, it would be simply awsome if they had some map-making software!

In reply to: Re: Halo for computers? 3rd Party work.

I haven't been around this forum in quite a long time so please forgive my lack of information but as Halo is being revamped for the PC I think that 3rd party maps are always a given. One thing to note, however, is that with the delay of Halo 2 this likely means that Bungie is attempting to set right its previous flaws from Halo; namely the lack of online support in the form of a network. With any luck the geniuses at Bungie will already be utilizing the software from Xbox Live! in an effort to correct their previous online flops *cough*Oni&Halo*cough*.

As always, however, the 3rd party mapmaking scene will always find a way to suvive, be it through haX0ring or any other means necessary. I for one will gladly round out the old Myth mod developers for Halo and tackle the mapmaking battle full-heartedly. And just so you know, there were already various plans in effect for Halo mod scenarios.

If Bungie fails at another online attempt, be sure that the community will be up in arms over this; so reagradless of the outcome I still have faith in Bungie.

Side Note: Anyone ever know what became of Phoenix?

Sincerely,
Pimpy™

Yeah, I would expect online support as mentioned in the halo 2 interviews on bungie.net, however, what i am most concerned about right now (even though i cant wait, i cant wait, i cant wait!!!!! for halo 2) is possable map expansions for the halo edition. Bungie should release a file disc of just maps to copy onto your xbox hard-drive..that would be awsome....well, i gotta go to school, see you guys later

In reply to: Halo for computers? 3rd Party work.

Before the whole Xbox live thing was anounced I dreamed of creating multiplayer maps for halo on the "soon" to be released computer version, then uploading them to the internet, and finally downloading them to the Xbox via internet so that I could play with my friends at home. Unfortunately you can't do this since the Xbox live is for xboxes only. you can't connect to PC games through it.

Yeah, i do want to know how it does kill all life. I think, once the index and the core are reunificated, it automatically activates and sends wave after wave of shocks through space, killing all life within the 25,000 light years. Once it has activated, the other rings somehow know and get activated. It's like you activate one you activate them all.

No, those are probably just markings. Not much chance of them being really important to the story, you would see them more often then.

YOu do see the markings often. On the back of Covenant elites and stuff. There are circles with pictures of a ring, sorta like the Halo.

Anonymous's picture

In reply to: Re: Halo's weapon

Shockwaves don't make sense because for force to travel there has to be matter, and there isn't much matter in space. Also, if the matter used is the ring itself, it wouldn't have a range of 25000 light years.I would imagine that it would just make some form of cataclysmic chain reaction happen that would spread rather than just shock waves

Banshee Pilot's picture

In reply to: Re: Halo's weapon

i dunno. there's gotta be sumthing we're missing here...
maybe the force of the explosion at the end. it created a shock wave that destroyed halo. maybe it can generate a shock wave powerful enough.
or halo sends out pulses through space that can kill easily.

You don't need matter to transfer energy in space. A common way of energy transfer in space is gamma radiation. Maybe you've not heard but gamma radiation is a major threat to any life. A massive amount of gamma radiation can strip a planet of its atomsphere living the inhabitants without any air to breathe. Earth has been hit by a gamma radiation burst before but the radiation was not enough to cause any real damage. And, also radiation can travel forever until it is transferred into something else.

Enough gamma radiation will kill anything but it moves slightly solwer than the speed of light, so it wouln't work. The monotor said that halos effective range was 25,000 light years. If we assume that each halo will be responsible for it full effective range, this means that there need to be at least 8 Halos to destroy all life in the galxy. I would guess that each Halo fires 12,500 light years in every direction, so if the halos fired gamma radation it would take at least 12,500 years to to do the job. With this kind of time the flood's food (rember that halo dosent kill flood it kills their food) or the flood itself could simply outrun the destructive effect of halo in a faster than light ship.In my way of thinking halos weapon needs to be much faster than the speed of light and be able to affect objects in slipspace.

Judging by the dialogue at the beginning of "two betrayals," Halo has been fired at least once; obviously it is still there, and thus it is equally obvious that its weapon doesn't actually destroy anything other than organic life (but then why is there so much plant life on halo itself?).

I agree with you about the need for speed. Keyes' conversation with Cortana at the beginning of the game reveals that travel through hyperspace (faster than light) is routine for both the humans and the Covenant; perhaps Halo's weapon is delivered through hyperspace as well.

An interesting (to my mind) question: Given that Halo destroys all the life in its range, but not the Flood, then what exactly *is* the Flood? They aren't a life-form (or else Halo would be pointless), but they need organic food to survive and reproduce. It seems to be quite paradoxical.

Not true in the least, friend. Let me explain.

When Cortana stated that it didn't kill the flood, what she, in fact, meant, was that it wasn't 'intended' to kill the flood because they're bound to escape any method of genocide applied. And as you may well know, genetic diversity isn't a factor in Flood Reproduction. ;x

And also ..

Don't be so quick to harp on other's 'ignorance'. Remember that this is 'rampant speculation.'

I've thought over this theory, and it doesn't seem to be too farfetched. The Flood could very well be a weapon used by the Forerunner. But much like a biological weapon, they may have thought it could be used against them. So they developed an antidote for them. 'Halo.' Though, Unlike Halo which kills everything, Flood can be applied where needed and sent on missions. Much like monsters from 'Resident Evil', I'm sure they can be programmed for anything .. But now, the forerunner are gone. Leaving the once more cliche AI attitude and programming of: "Let's assimilate all," Which is exactly what they're doing, mind you. ;D
