After eight years doing Damage and Spin and donning the Online Asbestos Suit for Bungie, Community Guy and Keeper of the Bungie Way Matt Soell has decided to leave Bungie. Friday, April 25, 2003, was his last day. He wrote about his decision in the HBO forum:

Sharp-eyed reader Phil Maurer pointed out to us a screenshot of the upcoming LucasArts game RTX Red Rock, hosted over at GameSpy. Look closely and you'll see that the bespectacled character there has what appears to be an upside-down Marathon logo on his chest. RTX Red Rock is, ironically, a third person shooter-- just as Halo was originally intended to be.

HBO forum reader Skeletor pointed out the image of a cool-looking Seventh Column coffee mug on the Bungie webcam; Bungie's own Matt Soell has said it will be available soon™ .

Brian Josselyn of Blackstar Productions, has released a Trailer for Halo Movie that he is creating. If you are having touble downloading the movie, the fine folks at HBO have created a mirror list. Go ahead and download it! The largest movie file is 34.5 megabytes.

Oh, by the way...

I am Kevin, and I will help out posting news here.

Parts of the movie Aliens recreated in the Halo engine by c0ld vengeance and demonelite.

In ways reminiscent of old-school Bungie fashion, the hunt is on.

Blackstar Productions, which is working on a feature-length Halo fan film, has posted a Q&A about the Halo Movie project; the basics of it are that the movie is so huge it will be available only as a DVD and not as a download, and there will be between 25 and 50 copies that will be raffled off in some kind of contest to be defined later.

David Evil Otto Candland (formerly CandyMan) has put up a primer on various methods for making online nicknames over at the Seventh Column site. Thanks to Louis Wu at HBO for the warning.
