Now, I'm not exactly sure about this, so leave the subject as is.

A friend I just met (strange person) who told me his friend works for some Xbox related comapany or something, and that he owns a copy of Halo 2, complete but with a few bugs to fix- just minor ones. You think this is true? Maybe the game is done and they are just copying all of the data onto disks for sales.

He said that the game companies advance the date of release just to build suspense kinda stuff. It sounds convincing- and if it IS done, Im gonna sneak into Microsoft, use an invisibility item (via Master Chief) and creep into Bill Gates office, rendering his plan hopeless from hiding SO WE CAN ALL ENJOY THE GAME 395 DAYS EARLIER!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH........

ha!

Rumors like this belong in the same bin with statements to the effect that someone knows who killed Kennedy, that they've got Saddam Hussein locked up in their linen closet, or that the moon is made of green cheese.

But seriously...

Every once in awhile, someone suggests that a much anticipated game is, in fact, finished, but is being held back to build suspense. Who knows, perhaps this was actually done at some time with some game; I have no idea. But it wasn't true about Halo 1 (although it was rumored about that game, too) and I doubt it's true of Halo 2, especially since if I had to guess, I'd say Microsoft would have preferred to have Halo 2 ready for a Christmas 2003 release, which would be exactly 2 years after the original. The idea that they'd release it early in 2004 to "build suspense" just doesn't logically hold water.

That and the fact the would sell a shizz load more copie right off the bat durring the holiday season then directly after it when no one has any money, because they go thier kids games other than Halo 2 for XMas.

It wouldnt make sence, if they thoought the could get it out by XMas they would.

actually, i do know who killed kennedy . . . .

it was three assassins from the french mob, but the government doesn't want us to know that ;)

-Jäger

and if you don't believe me, watch the history channels six episode series "The Men Who Killed Kennedy." I could go on, but I'd hurt myself ;) (or the gov. would do it for me).

And while i'm at it, we know where bin laden is too. just not hussein.

Sure!

A round trip ticket to this guy's house would only run me about two thousand dollars.

Wire that to me and I'll do it!

:-)

Sorry to say, but on average people who say things like this are lieing 99% of the time. He just wants you to think hes cool. The only people that handle the game before the game goes into testing and mass production is Microsoft's Gaming Division and developer itself.

The chances of this guy actually having a "friend" that got him a copy is extremely low if none at all. If he still claims to have it, ask him to show it to you (and dont accept just the teaser movies and pics, you need to see this "Halo 2" in action.)

Business wise it is never smart to wait and try to build up suspense by delaying such a product. Not only does it give competitors a chance to take away customers, but it also lowers the technological advancement at its stance. Why hold onto a brand new game with top of the line new technology for over a year so that the competitors can catch up? If anything, they'd try to release it sooner.

Now if your friend can really come up with proof, I will eat my words; with some Frank's Redhot Sauce.
