Halo Reach OST Ashes for Piano
Here is the song "Ashes" from the Halo Reach Official Soundtrack. I've finally gotten around to getting this up. This piece takes a little practice to play but overall it's not very hard. Have fun playing and enjoy the sheet music!
UPDATE 5/6/11: Fixed inconsistencies in the sheet music. Big thanks to Pedrotome for the help. Also added the midi for Orchestra Kat's cutscene version.
UPDATE 4/26/11: Replaced old transcription with the new one. The new transcription is based off of the link Chief Mendez kindly provided which was found on Bungie.net. The link can be found at the bottom of this post. I have also made a video of me actually playing the new version and have posted it for all of you to see on YouTube. The link for the video can also be found down below.

Congratz. :)

Thanks but it isn't exactly perfect yet. There is a little timing issue due to Finale not letting me add in a tempo change half way through a measure. It looks right on the sheet music but sounds late on the midi. I fixed it in the orchestra version so I might upload a new piano midi later today.

What the hell.. I have this strange feeling someone censored my comment and edited it...
I'm saying this because I remember thinking what I still think (and am sure about), so I would never say it's perfect...
Your transcription has score-writing mistakes/inconsistencies, which are:
1. Measures 9, 11, 12, 13: You don't need to repeat the bemolles after you have flattened the note you want to repeat. This was probably something you did by copying and pasting the first four notes on the left hand. Just delete the bemolles on the second group of four notes (but keep one bemolle on the beginning of each measure, of course).
2. Measure 17: There are two voices on the right-hand and you represent them as one voice. What you should do is this (I'll use dots to align the notes):
First voice:........F(dotted minim).....................................F(crotchet)
Second voice:...F(crotchet)...Eb(crotchet)...Db(crotchet)...C(crotchet)
3. Measure 22: The second voice should be (Bb(crotchet)) Bb(crotchet) Eb(crotchet) Db(crotchet).
4. Measures 30, 31: It's good practice to separate the chord, for example and from bottom to top, the first three notes could be a crotchet pointing down and the rest could be a crotchet pointing up. The semibreves should have some textual indication.
I hope I didn't forget anything..
Anyway, again, very nice work! Just a couple issues, that's all.
Oh, and you don't need to add exact tempos like you did in the beginning and on the measures 30 and 31. The first is acceptable, but could always be changed by a textual information (you know, like Allegro or Andante). The last two simply shouldn't be there..

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not really a genious when it comes to writing the score. I just do my best to get the notes on there so that others at least have the music to play. I went over all of the suggestions that you gave me and here is what I think:
1. Yup, it's just as you expected. A result from copy and paste. I fixed it in the new file.
2. Set it up just as you suggested it.
3. Set it up just as you suggested it.
4. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the separation of the chord or how to do this in Finale.
5. Replaced the tempo changes with text info.
I would like to send you the new file before posting it to go over any further mistakes. You can send me a private message if you would like. Any other suggestions would also be much appreciated. Once again thanks for the feedback!

I've checked the updated version and it just needs one final touch (maybe you forgot or misunderstood?): measure 22 should be like this.
Just change that and it's perfect! The chords I talked about are how they're supposed to be. You don't need to add any right/left hand info to the semibreve chord because you already did in the chord before it, so it's pretty clear how the pianist should play it.
tldr: Change the measure 22 to this and you're set.
Again, nice job! :)
Also, why is it that everybody in here uses Finale? I can't grasp my head around it: Sibelius is so much better and easier! :O

Alright I made the last of the changes so hopefully it's good now. Thanks for your help in all this. Also I use Finale because I like the way it works and it's quick and easy to create the sheet music. It also has a ton of features. I have never tried Sibelius so I can't really compare the two. I think others may feel the same way I do and that is why they use Finale as well.

It sounds great, so far i haven't found a problem with it, but it is a lot about timing. It does take a bit of practice before you get use to it and muscle memory kicks in and you can play with you eyes closed, which does take time, but it is good practice. Anyway, good job and thanks a lot! :D

It sounds like there's a jump between the 2nd and 3rd bars as well as the 6th and 7th bars, as if the player was nervous and jumpy. Fantastic transcription though, the notes are perfectly on target.

Well I have the Orchestra part as well. I didn't bother including it because people were only interested in the piano part. If you want it I could send it to you.

Just found this on Bungie.net courtesy of Marty. Its the piano track from ashes separated from the orchestra. Your sheet music is very accurate (almost exactly) but I did notice a few hidden notes that rounds out the music quite nicely. Just thought you might be interested

Thanks a bunch for this Mendez. This would have really helped me out a lot when I was making the actual transcription. I noticed a couple notes that I missed but I cannot update the sheet music because I no longer have Finale. I'm still trying to get my hands on a full version. I noticed that I missed a note on measure 37 of my sheet music and the left hand in measures 56 - 62 needs to be changed a bit. Did you notice anything else that I did not catch?

Alright thanks, and yes, I looked at Ghosts and Glass too. My transcription for Epilogue is tha basic beginning of it but I never intended it to be perfectly accurate. I like it the way it already is but I may look it over again if I can get the full version of Finale.
