Well....

For starter I'm an american ;)

true, we did save Europes butt....but this was after we hung it out to dry. we, the american public, sat back and watched Hitler destroy most of Europe before we took a stand. we sent over food and military supplies, but no humans.

it wasn't until Japan attacked us that we entered both wars(atlantic and pacific) officially.

there, that's your history lesson for the day :)

: : hey we saved europe's butt from hitler so give us some
: : friggin' credit ;)
: :
: :Yeah you can't forget D- Day. Or all the constant
: fighting.

A few things
1) We didn't send over soilders because we didn't want another world war (like it worked).
2) Our round the clock bombing helped
3) We had so good place guns. Ye the germans had gun that could spew out 100 bullets per second. But we had M50's and quad 50's against ifantry and veichles. Qaud 5o's were mostly used for anti aircraft fire on half tracks.
4) Our presence helped end the war in Europe and in the pacific(a-bomb)

kinda off topic of ww2 but i dont think the president and all his cheif of staff should have to wait for congress to pass a delaration of war. congress men have too many hidden agendas. i mean most are croupt and just want to make money. well pardon me for sayin but what the f*** is wealth gonna matter when iraq or N.Korea nuke us.

I agree. We need to start a cheap war against Iraq. Suddam hates us. If we gave him the chance he would probably try to nuke us. And that would be the . the only suvivors will be our president and his staff beacuse they don't care if the whole counrty is a frozen waste land. If hes alive oh happy days! Really if he nukes us thier will be a uncontrolled nulear war. Don't forget get the pioson gasses. it will be a sad day.

Well goin back to a previous topic, we were in Veitnam because the president did a policing action and bypassed congress, now look how that turned out. I think that out president just wants to whomp on somone cuz he didnt get Osama. Another large war would be hard to fight because of all these hippies would be running around yelling "save the children! There innocent even though there shooting at us" and spiting in our wounded solders faces. I dont want the war with them, but I want to wail on some sad country. If we do fight a war, our ping wont be that high, because were not playing Halo, on the other hand.

One of these days, try running for congress, or even your plain ol' city council, and then come back and talk to us about the congress just sitting around. It's a full time job just getting elected!

And then, once you do manage to get elected (not likely), try to actually get something done. With the opposite party trying their best to make your bill not go through, you'll have a helluva time getting anything done.

That's why it can take a helluva long time for our government to get anything done. The two-party system that evolved tends to limit the scope of legislation that can actually pass through both the Senate and the House to even make it to the President's desk.

Oh yeah, and if you don't vote, you've got no right to bitch about the government. If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

No. the US government did not "send" over soldiers. they did ask if anyone wanted to volenteer to temporarily join the brittish army/airforce to help fight. but no orders were ever given commanding US troops to go over there.
only exception here might be that we sent some covert ops over and spies.

It's true that the US did "work wonders" when we entered the war, but you have to consider that all the European powers were drained of thier financial, material, and human resources. On the other hand the US and its citizens were getting rich from the war and they weren't starving or suffering like the Europeans.

I still think that once we relised germany was that powerful (like after they took out a couple countries in a couple months) that we shoud have REALLY stepped in and given them a hand, not sat back and waited tell japan attacked us.

of course the reason for this was the american public that didn't want a war, and in this case government knew best.

rant and a half

Response
Saddam would never bomb us with a nuclear weapon, the reason being this; he is a non-religious dictator and thus strives for power not destruction. If he had a choice between ruling all the christians or killing them all, he'd most certainly chose ruling.
....trailing off into rant about my anger against the world
However, fundamentalists such as Al-Qaeda and other such various groups are a pack of retards brainwashed by some bullshit beliefs of some dirty old illiterate man (very similar to the bible, which isn't even the word of jesus). If you really want to fix the problems in the world, eliminate these intolerant religions, maybe if everyone converts from their "im afraid of death so i make shit up" crap to something like buddhist, which strives for inner peace and isn't a brownie point system to get to "heaven". Also yet another completely off topic statement, the reasons for congress just sitting around is this, its made up of dirty old white rich men, and if it could pump out laws and change the face of the earth in days, imagine how quickly a fascist dictator could take power, all that would be required is for the person to have massive popular support and eventually they will hold a position of absolute power. Just look at hitler, thats exactly how it happened. The beauracracy of the world is disheartening but it all comes back to the simple fact that people are stupid and shouldn't be trusted. Back to my hatred of christianity, while at heart all religions are inherently in some way good, they are never practiced the right way. America is around 90% christian, Christ says the whole turn the other cheek crap right?. However post 9/11, which was bad but not that bad (hiroshima), everyone is calling for blood, perhaps had we been helping afghanistan and hadn't turned our back on Osama 20 years ago just like we did every other revolutionary in the middle east, those thousands of people who died in 9/11 would be alive right now. Oh by the way, I give the world a life expectancy of about 15 years because of retarded ass religions.

forget the the nukes. the life on earth has about 5 years. Sometime in the future we are going to bomb a biological weapons plant in Iraq letting out some viruses. Since viruses change quickly the cure won't work.

And lets not forget the nuke that can reverse time and cause everybody to de-evolve back into apes!!!

I think your imaginations are getting the better of you all.

My view, nuclear weapons are as much a good idea as they are a bad idea. They keep balance within the world due to the fact that if a country was to use nukes, nukes will be used against that country – this equation leaves two out-comes, no one uses nukes on anyone ever or everybody kills everybody else.

And no matter how mad any dictator may be, I think that they would realise that using nukes would ultimately finish us all off, and what would be the point of that!

1) Nuclear technology isn't a bad idea per se. It allowed the Second World War to come to an end before thousands, if not millions more people died in the upcoming invasion of Japan. It also gave rise to nuclear power, which, if used safely and correctly, is one of the cheapest, cleanest, most efficient methods of generating electricity known.

Nuclear weapons, on the other hand, are the biggest evil Man has ever stumbled upon. Giving the power to destroy all life on the planet at the push of a button to a single person (the President in this case) isn't the best idea. The whole idea of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction, the idea that if I launch at you, you will then launch at me in return, and we both die, therefore I won't ever launch at you) that you refer to doesn't exist anymore. There is no country on Earth with the nuclear arsenal to match the US. Sure, the Russians have plenty, but their ICBM's are so unreliable as to be a joke, and they don't have a bomber with the capability of penetrating US airspace. Sure, they might hit us with a few, but not as many as we can hit them with. It's a lopsided battle nowadays, not balanced at all.

: And no matter how mad any dictator may be, I think that
: they would realise that using nukes would ultimately finish
: us all off, and what would be the point of that!

: c0ld

I'm gonna have to disagree with you. There's plenty of madmen out there, and many of them would launch a nuke at their nearest neighbor without blinking an eye, given the chance. Saddam probably isn't that crazy, but he did use poison gas to kill thousands, if not millions, of the Kurds in the northern part of his country. Not too much of a stretch of the imagination to see him put a nuke on a SCUD and launch towards Israel, if you ask me.

That's just my $0.02.

Re: Ummm....

There is always MAD if a country has 10 nukes and we have 9000, as long as there's a way for both countries to implement them. Russia undoubtedly has 1000+ nukes thus althought its ICBM's are unreliable (is this true) they will still get at least some to go off, it doesn't take that many H-Bombs to ruin a country.

I'd like to start out by saying that I'd like this to stay an intelligent debate, not a flame war.

: reason being this; he is a non-religious dictator and thus
: strives for power not destruction. If he had a choice
: between ruling all the Christians or killing them all, he'd

This is more then likely true. but I can also see Saddam making a safe house for himself in another country, launching a nuke at the US, and sacrificing Iraq. a long stretch, but I don't think it's beyond Sadddams Evil Genius (he's a damn smart guy you have to admit) and reckless abandon for human life.

: ....trailing off into rant about my anger against the
: world
: However, fundamentalists such as Al-Qaeda and other such
: various groups are a pack of retards brainwashed by some
: bullshit beliefs of some dirty old illiterate man

this is not the whole truth though. in a lot of cases the suicide bombers are promised that their families will be taken care of and given money. and when your wife and children are dieing of hunger, it wouldn't be that hard to give your life to kill a few people that your WHOLE society is calling evil and wants to kill.

I'm not talking about 9/11 in this case, those guys were beyond words.

: (very
: similar to the bible, which isn't even the word of jesus).

some of it is.
I don't suppose you've had a chance to pick up the Bible and read a few chapters?

: If you really want to fix the problems in the world,
: eliminate these intolerant religions, maybe if everyone
: converts from their "im afraid of death so i make shit up"

I think it's safe to say that most Christians aren't afraid of death as far as themselves are concerned, they are afraid of leaving their family alone though. at least that's how I feel.

: crap to something like buddhist, which strives for inner
: peace and isn't a brownie point system to get to "heaven".

Christian, at least the Protestant side (can't speak for everyone else) isn't a brownie point system. I'll go into this deeper if you'd like.

and Buddhist believe in being reborn into this world, so I guess they'd fall into your "fear of death" category.

: Also yet another completely off topic statement, the reasons
: for congress just sitting around is this, its made up of
: dirty old white rich men,

Right Right, that dirty old rich white Colin Powell should....wait a minute, he aint White, Rich, or that old, I'd say not dirty, but I can't say that for sure, and neither can you.

on a side note about the president being rich...my Dad makes more then he does. but of course Bushis given things like a car, a house, and all his cloths plus other things I’m sure. so he doesn’t actually have to pay for much. but he doesn’t make millions a year for being the president.

no human is perfect, and of course there is corruption, there isn't a government in the history of the world that hasn't had corruption. but as far as this world goes at this time in history, the US is a damn good place to be, not just because of it's power and money, but because it has good rules, and well enforced. if you don't believe do a little research (or hell, go live ) in Russia, or Mexico, or China. I think you'll find the ways things work is vastly different.

: and if it could pump out laws and
: change the face of the earth in days, imagine how quickly a
: fascist dictator could take power, all that would be
: required is for the person to have massive popular support
: and eventually they will hold a position of absolute power.

actually, a dictatorship is the best kind of government, that is assuming you could find a saint of a human to run it, and since those don't exist, or the closest people to them don't want power. so instead you have people like Hitler fighting for those positions.

: Just look at Hitler, thats exactly how it happened. The
: beauracracy of the world is disheartening but it all comes
: back to the simple fact that people are stupid and shouldn't
: be trusted.

thus the reason a Democracy/Republic works fairly well, because at any one time most people want good, it doesn't rely on the chance that one person at one evil moment won't make the wrong choice.

: Back to my hatred of Christianity,

I'm curious where that comes from...

: while at
: heart all religions are inherently in some way good, they
: are never practiced the right way.

which is the fault of who? the religion, or the people that practice the religion?

: America is around 90%
: christian,

Taken from the CIA Word Fact Book
Religions:
Protestant [Christian] 56%, Roman Catholic 28%, Jewish 2%, other 4%, none 10%

That was taken in 1989

in the World, Roman Catholics and Protestants combined only make up slightly more then 32% of the world (also taken from the CIA-WFB)

:Christ says the whole turn the other cheek crap
: right?.

so you think that is crap?

: However post 9/11, which was bad but not that bad
: (Hiroshima), everyone is calling for blood,

Hiroshima was wrong in my mind. BUT,we were at war with Japan. we also warned Japan what we were going to do, and told them what would happen if they didn't surrender. they didn't surrender. we dropped it. we told them the same thing, and gave them the same result if they didn't surrender. they STILL still didn't surrender, so we dropped another bomb. it wasn't a surprise attack by any means.

it is argued that less lives were lost in those bombs then would have been lost in a prolonged ground and sea war with Japan.
it is all only guessing though.

: perhaps had we
: been helping Afghanistan and hadn't turned our back on Osama
: 20 years ago just like we did every other revolutionary in
: the middle east, those thousands of people who died in 9/11
: would be alive right now.

explain this. do you mean that if we had babysat Osama and manipulated him that he wouldn't have done what he did? and we didn't turn our back, we won the war for them against Russia because of our gifts of weapons. when the war was over we stopped our support of weapons.

: Oh by the way, I give the world a
: life expectancy of about 15 years because of retarded ass
: religions.

remember, it's the people not the religions that cause these acts. the fact the people have used "religion" as a way of brain washing people into thinking that others are evil and deserve to die is against the point.

by the end of this you might have guessed that I am Christian. my beliefs are my own, and are also different from many other quote "Christians". but the foundation is the same.

I'm also pretty learned in the mater of history, and specifically Wars and that surrounding major civilizations and Christianity. but I by no means claim to be right in anything I've said above, and am open to corrects.

I would love to continue this debate, but if you feel the need to flame me for anything please use my email, not this forum. otherwise go ahead and reply here.

Have A Nice Day :)

This is an unrealistic view, all He would need to do is dig really deep, and set up a base say 700 ft below the surfaces, I'd sincerely like to see a nuke that wouldnt cause unbelievable worldwide destrcution break through that. (I think, or kinda think, that the primary usage of nuclear weapons would be about 80000 ft up where the fallout and the explosion would be harmless but the EMP Shockwave generated by it would take out electronics in a several hundred mile radius

Kind of my point, since i oft find that people are incapable of practicing religions using the base values instead of small rules

Granted you are perfectly correct that the bombs may have saved lives, but lets view 9/11 under the same light, perhaps that was their hiroshima, we may have had a Jihad and a half on our hands had that not happened

Part of my point, similar to how you point out how dictatorship is well nigh impossible to carry out "actually, a dictatorship is the best kind of government, that is assuming you could find a saint of a human to run it, and since those don't exist, or the closest people to them don't want power. so instead you have people like Hitler fighting for those positions. " religion is very similar to a dictatorship, good in theory, but in practice it falters, not necessarily because of the beliefs being flawed, but in the people being flawed. (Its kinda like communism)
: Protestant [Christian] 56%, Roman Catholic 28%
thats pretty close to 90% (84%) Note: I count catholics as "christians"

Perhaps, but i consider Saddam not necessarily evil (thirst for destruction) but more a power-monger, and the only reason he's chosen America as his nemesis is because he sees it as the first and largest obstacle in his road to power.

: the US is a damn good place to be, not just because of it's
: power and money, but because it has good rules, and well
: enforced.
Some good rules, however the anti-drug laws and the war on drugs are an enormous waste of money, it costs bongloads of money to keep prisoners in jail, why fill them up with people that are basically the same as smokers.
: this is not the whole truth though. in a lot of cases the suicide

I would like to point out that i am the man for starting this here debate. Oh and im full of shit a lot of the time.

Similar to people that are pro-gun (forget what that movements called) I am against religions. Its "guns dont kill people, people kill people" i believe that to be true, but i'd still side with the anti-gun lobbyists. Exact same (or very similar) situation for religion, because people are fundamentally the dumbests creatures

Re: bunker busters and US reasons

I just have a few things here;
bunker busters, if you knew exactly what they were, have extremely sophisticated devices-like special piercing armor, because bunker buster actually DO "tunnel" through rock, about 900 feet, I think. The missle, with that special armor, will go all the way to the depth its programmed to, THEN detonate. I got one more thing for everyone.
the US, god bless it, does have to deal with all those crappy senators that care a lot about money, yes they do. the middle east hates us because, instead of sitting by and not interfering (like we should have in WWII-the gov didn't want to be blamed for not stepping in this time), we came in, and said, oh, poor mideasterns (if anyones seen the movie "the white man's burden" in history class or somthing, it explains why people think "its our job") and waltz in to take their oil- basically the only thing they have to get them out of the severe poverty. after taking advantage of that, we turned around, gave them weapons so they could fight I-forget-who, then leave and don't help them much more. now they're mad, and are using guns WE gave them. what can I say? you can't change the past, but there's no fate. whats to make of this? we (everyone, americans, europeans, everyone) need to do the best we can. if we f up, we just keep trying.

Well put, Earendil.

That was very well thought out, and a good deal more tactful than I would have been had I responded to Zaebos in my initial anger at his rather bigoted and less than thoughtful post. Once again, the intelligence and level-headedness of many of the readers of this forum astounds me.

Im not intolerant, i can always understand why people do things and at least partially accept it, thus im not a bigot. Though I'd like to see evidence coupled with explanation showing that my posts were bigoted, if anything, my feelings about christianity may seem bigoted because im struggling to find the words to explain it

WE should just make some e-bombs(electromagnet bomb)0 and fry all of his electronics. They only cost 400 bucks a bomb. oH on a issue of popular science they had a nuke chart. Hiroshima was 5 kilotons. There are now nukes with an upwards power of 50 megatons.

rant on christianity

i can see Zaebos point through from my study in school to me i preceive that most wars are based off a diverence in religion. All though the comunists can say the same thing about economical classes. Through most of history all countries had religious intolerence. To me it is not the belief in one certaint religion it is the uneducated people that practise it. I do not agree with Zeabos statement that all people are dumb and need to be controlled. Humans are generally good natured and want to make thier surroundings better for them. It is the fact that people dont know much about others cultures that we do not respect them. I think this argument has no end becuase you both are partial to ur side. Also i think it is ironic for you two to argue about it so close to christmas

THE TRUTH OF SEPTEMBER 11

Slight change of subject, I was just wondering if any of you Americans had any idea of what’s really going on (due 2 the fact that your media is more corrupt than normal, and your all a bunch of self riotous gitts). Bin laden hates Americans in his country, his past crimes have been killing American soldiers that were unwanted in his country (I understand I hate when the American navel ships pull in 2 my home town, Fremantle Perth Australia). Bin laden has never taken any action against anyone not ‘invading’ his country. He was used as a scape goat for the whole September 11 thing. I imagine the truth about sep 11 is that the attack was done by American government in order to rally support for ‘the war against terror’ which turned out to be another excuses for an attack by America for oil, since the only terror is the USA. Though an attack by his country would be understandable as America has bombed school and hospitals there as long as I can remember. Australia and France were against the war on terror until faked terror attacks (by American government) happened in their own back yard, Bali bombings for Australia and the oil tanker incident for France. The Washington sniper incident was another example of American governments uses of patsies (scape goats) used 2 incite rase hatred as the ‘guilty’ were black Muslims. There is the proof of these facts out there but you have 2 find it for your self’s because you wont believe it until you do.

American government thrives on war, and war will happen unless you the young Americans do something about it. Find out the truth and remember your people are more important than the flag.
Regrets 2 any one who was affected by Sep 11.

Halo 2 – A bachelor’s guide

When the day comes when Halo 2’s release date is known there will be happiness, excitement, anticipation and panic as countless people rush to get their hands on one of, if not THE most anticipated game EVER!

So in order to enjoy this game to it fullest I have put together 10 simple steps to follow.

Step 1

First and foremost when Halo2’s release date is known, pre-order your copy and book at lease 7 days off work to enjoy it to its full potential.

Step 2

Closer to the release date (day or so before) start organizing your Halo playing zone. You will need,

A bed
A TV
The Xbox (duh)
A computer
A telephone with speed dial
A LAN line
A DSL line
And the refrigerator (for the extreme Halo fan)

Step 3

Arrange the bed as the nucleus for this Halo zone with everything else within reaching distance.

Hopefully this set up will minimise most distractions (excluding taking a leak)

Step 4

Go through the local pages and find all the numbers of the fast food restaurants that deliver and put them into the phone on the speed dials.

Step 5

Tell all friends and relatives that you have to go on a business trip to Alaska for a week and cannot be reached.

Step 6

Buy a week worth of snacks, soft drinks or beer (for the mature player) and keep them close by.

Step 7

Connect your computer and your Xbox to the Net and have Halo2 sites constantly connected for instant updates..

Step 8

Have twenty-four hours sleep the day before so to maximise your first time playing Halo2.

Step 9

That night, set your alarm for the next morning a couple of hours before the shops open to give adequate time for getting up, last minute checks on your zone, warming up the car and the time it takes to get to the shop.

Step 10

Once you own HALO2….. Hold it close….. Keep it warm….. Make sure it gets back to its new home safely….. And love it like a brother.

Because for the next 7+ days

HALO2 WILL BE THE ONLY THING IN YOUR LIFE!!

Nothing will be the same after.

How to fool your boss

Nice one, c0ld vengance! Sound advice which I follow to the letter.

Seeing as there will be hundreds of people taking time off work to play there may be a staff shortage like when the world cup was on due to people bunking off. Try the following foolproof excuses so your boss doesn't twig what you're really up to.

1. Fill your coat with plastic bags full of tomato sauce and then trip up as you enter work. Bingo, go home with injury!
2. Get to friends to stage a dramtic fake kidnapping right outside your workplace. No need to tell friends or family where you are!
3. Try and invent a working plasma rifle. You probably won't succeed (well, if scientists can't do it yet!) but the amount of burns and injuries you'll get will get you off work for sure! :)
4. Try and invent a working plasma grenade. On second thoughts, best stick with number 3... :S
5 . And finally, if he's ever played Halo there'll be no need for any excuse.

HE WON'T BE IN THE OFFICE EITHER! :)

How to use the can and play the game all in one.

Hey, nice addvice, but when you were talking about a leak, and using a can. Well, I got good news and bad. Good news.
I read in xbox magazine that they will have a wireless controller, so bathroom using will be easy as the gamecube commercial on the tv. Bad news.

1.I read in Xbox mag that Halo 2 will becoming out in winter of 2003. 2. For the male, if not using the can and having to take a leak, good luck on aiming. dirtbike_demon125@hotmail.com

Halo 2 will be so cool, but d

Halo 2 will be so cool, but did you ever think c0ld vengeance, that when you said the trip away, you could get bored, since Halo 1 had ten quite easy levels (I completed them in two days!), Halo 2 could be quite ze same, so why not get your friends round and do Halo 2 Co-Operative, I here it has System Link Co-op and up to 4-player normal Co-op! plus, you could do multiplayer, do your favorite levels in co-op over and over and over again! So just change your fucking Bachelor Guide, don't get me wrong, I'm just seven, I stil play and love Halo!
So try to think of an excuse to get off School, Cold! all so, I can't wait for HALO2! Halo's Opera Music was sick, don't you agree?
