In reply to: Halo 2... In my thoughts and prayers

I reckon the AR should do more damage. The normal thing in FPSs is that the most powerful weapon is (excluding snipers and explosives) a machine gun, and the AR was debateably the worst gun, being inaccurate and weak. I agree that there should be sentinel weapon you can use.

There should be more multiplayer maps that support vehicles and especially banshees also you should be able to toggle individual vehicles on and off, rather than selecing all or only one kind

Your stuff about races is good. I believe that flod should b rubbish with weapons because their limbs dont exactly seem dextrous do they

The huntrs weak spots should be made smaller because is too easy to kill them at present

For multiplayer they should incorporate bots, having shown with the marines that they are good with AI

The thing with AI is that Bungie just haven't got the time or perhaps even the inclination to code for anything other than simple team/deathmatch.

I suppose it would be cool to have the option to have occasional marine airdrops in multiplayer mode, to support the human players on each team.

Personally I think it a shame that Bungie never included the human boat in the game [You must have seen the concept art at Halo.Bungie.Org]. Some water levels would also be cool. As would the ability to have more than 16 players in multiplay. Perhaps 32, or even 64 on some larger maps. Would be nice.

In Halo 2 ther is a new pistol where it gets lodged in a target and then explodes. A crude human needler. There is a warthog with missiles instead of a chaingun. You can use more vehicles, old and new(i.e. the longsword fighter and an atv a.k.a. quad). They have improved more stuff like graphics( I wish they would've kept some of the old ideas for MC's suit.) and gameplay. The covenant do find Earth( It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum) and they have attacked. All we can do is wait, though I do know alot about it.

you're a cybrog with armor plating a small calibur assult rifle shouldn't do much to you, we have body armor today that will stop assualt rifle rounds. Why does halo have to follow "the normal thing" anyway?

i was thinkin just now that it would be neat if you could shoot out rockets and deflect grenades and what not... kinda like metal gear solid (i.e. deflecting vamp's knives). the physics of the game are perfect, just think it would be cooler if they affected every conceivable item relavent to gameplay.

I would like to see some weapons have secondary fires/functions. Perfect dark is a good example. Alternate types of ammo would also be nice. Anything to spice up the weapons for more in depth strategy.

I wonder if Bungie is planning to have more Spartans in Halo 2? Possibly the next group that Mendez disappears off to train!

Mendez leaves to train the next group in 2525, Halo is set in 2552 just after reach falls, providing that the next group starts training at or around six years old like the MC, that would mean that they could be 33 years old providing they survived training.

I first thought that they might have been killed on reach but at that age they would of left the planet by then, probably on a mission or something?

Just a thought, any comments?

Tell me if I remember incorrectly, but didn't the PoA jump to Slipstream before it saw the fate of everyone AROUND Reach. I think the book said that the Covenant were taking care of the rest of the fleet and not that everyone eles had already been destroyed. It is possible that the new Spartan II's (or Spartan III's) escaped or were at thier test deployments. Also, you never were clear on wether or not James died floating in space or if he was picked up by a ship and escaped "safely." Also, Kelly, who was placed into a cryotube (like the one that is missing from beside you in the intro movie of PoA)before she was offically dead, could have been ejected from the PoA on a trajectory toward Earth. Another ship in Slipstream could have picked her up and taken her to Earth were she could have been revieved. I know this might seem crazy, but remember the key word in URL address above: "rampancy".

True.

Most of those questions may never be resolved. Remember about the other nine Mjolnir cyborgs in Marathon?

Hopefully these questions will be resolved by Halo 2. If not Halo 2, maybe by a Halo prequel or Halo movie. Don't think that their will be a Halo prequel/movie? You'd be suprised what 1,000,000+ fans e-mailing and writing a person could do to thier mind. Take the head of Bungie for example...*cough* hint *cough*.

Movie? I'd bet against it.

Prequel? Probably not. Notice that even the only real "prequel" in Bungie history is not really Bungie-- Myth: The Wolf Age (Myth 3).

Marathon fans screamed for years for Marathon 4 and got nothing.

Well, that's not fair. They got the source code and Halo. :)

No, to be honest, I think Bungie (as usual) is going to tell the story they want to tell, the way they want to, to the conclusion they see fit-- and not one bit more or less. Usually that entails leaving some tantalizing questions open to interpretation. Even after 3 Marathon games and 2 Myth games, there are still persistent and compelling questions about those stories, and it's part of what makes them interesting.

If all the questions are answered, there'd be no reason for a website like the Marathon's Story page to keep going more than 7 years.

Actually, they denied that one pretty flat out-- but there are still those who think there is some kind of a literal connection, dispite the mismatch in timelines.

Myself, I just happen to think the two games share a common theme and authorship, and that's about it.

Umm.. sorry to burst your bubble, that was pointed out over a year ago, when the official backstory for Halo was inadvertently leaked by Bungie.

To be precise, Chlazza found it back on September 21, 2001:

http://rampancy.net/node.php?id=38

And about fifteen minutes after that, people started trying to make it match up with the Marathon timeline, and found that pieces didn't fit :)

We are living in the movie age for prequels and computer game films.

I'd LOVE to see a "Halo the Movie" as long as it was a good film adaptation, like the Resident Evil movie.. But if it wasn't any good I think it would kill it off completely...

Yes. However, there have already been statements from Bungie about the likelihood of a Halo movie, so I'll fall back on those.

Ow... as good as all that? I always wondered how they were going to make a movie about an admittedly decent videogame that had legendarily poor voice acting. Halo would be much better source material.

Ow again... if the Halo movie would be anything along the lines of the two films you mentioned, I'd pay them $7 not to make it :)

Nothing less than something as good as the first two "Alien" movies would cut it.

Halo 2 should have helecopters. Something like a blackhawk or an apache-a4. The helecotper is quieter. Some of them can land behind you without you noticeing. A helecopter also doesn't need to land for people to get off. All it has to do is go low and kinda slow. The dropship has to land. A onboard chain gun would be nice to.

In the halo 2 trailer, they show nuclear scale explosions on the surface of earth, it seems likely that these would be emitting emp shockwaves and thus damaging and destroying electronics etc., which would make an open and unshielded helicopter unlikely in place of a dropship.

As I look through the Halo 2 feature in my EGM magazine again I still stare at the Brute in awe. It looks so powerful and mighty and ,well, violent. But as I stare at its "utility belt" I see what EGM has speculatively labeled as "Ka-boomsticks", a new type of Covenant grenade. They are basically a long metal cylinder with a little bit of glass protruding out and they don't appear to have any kind of trigger mechanism but an open hole instead, so I don't think they are grenades. What I think they are is power cores for the Covenant weapons. I hope its what they are and that we could use them. I mean, I find it hard to believe that the Covenant would just throw a weapon away after its core was empty.

Well, that's something I've always wondered about. All the Covenant weapons are energy weapons, not projectile weapons.

But we never see a recharge station.

This isa bit like Marathon, where the only weapon that I think could not be reloaded was the Pfhor staff (also an energy weapon).
